Excellence Playa Mujeres Brides Post Here!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone!! My fiance and I are actually getting married at the other excellence resort in Mexico the Riviera Cancun. We were thinking about "honeymooning" at the Playa Mujeres resort, but my fiance does not know if he wants to deal with the hassle of packing up everything and moving to another location in the middle of our vacation. We have never been to the EPM so it is hard to know if it will be worth it. We were hoping to stay in one of the oceanfront rooftop terrace suites if we do move locations. Does anyone have any experience that they could share to help me with my decision? anything about the resort and/or if the rooftop terrace is worth it would be very much appreciated.

Thank you!!

I'm doing brunch the at one of the resturants on the resort, we get married on Saturday and most people will be leaving Sunday so whomever is left at 11am the next day can join us. I did hear the cruises are awesome from another poster....

Wow this place looks amazing I just read a great review of it on trip advisor...I dont think they offer it as an option or at least I wasnt told about it. From what I can tell you will have to provide everything if your group is bigger than about 15 people...

If you wanted to rent it out and have your wedding there it certainly is possible! I believe it is a 3 day minimum but you can also have children come onsite for the wedding!

First, I just wanted to thank everyone for very very useful tips on planning a wedding in EPM. Yamina's 2 day response times were starting to drive me crazy (i'm just so spoiled with a few hour response time in US!), but after reading through the thread I realized, that she is quite busy and maybe her niceties in the emails are sincere.

Our ceremony will be at the beach and I'm trying to figure out the best design for the beach set-up. I don't think I'm a fan of the seashells, but maybe... What are the choices that you made? I wonder if there are pictures of any additional arch designs. Also does anyone have an attachment for the choices of available flower bouquets?

I also was wondering about the hair and make-up professionals at the hotel.. are they good?... Does anyone have any feedback?

I'm very excited - the resort is lovely - we were there last summer and really enjoying being a little further from all the action in Cancun.

Rebecca - I hope all goes better than you imagined!
It looks like we will be at EPM at the same time! Our wedding is June 15 and we are staying through the 21st...

We are getting married on the beach as well. After seeing several pictures (on here and in Yamina's emails) I think I am going to keep it simple and go without the arch/flowers, and just do a runner and chair sashes. There are only 14 people other than us and we are trying to keep it simple. Plus the flowers/arch are an additional cost and being that we are both teachers and won't get paid again until late August it's best for us. I believe I have a file from Yamina of pictures of those options- let me know if you needed.

Also, if you look back a couple pages, Jennifer put a link to her amazing pictures by Cecilia Dumas and there are some ceremony ones there plus her hair and make up. In her pp she said her hair and make up turned out much better than her picture/she expected. So I think you can relax as far as that goes!

This is such a great thread! Our EPM wedding is on 8/9/10. Our travel agent just confirmed the date so I haven't spoken with the wedding coordinator yet. Our ceremony (symbolic only) will be very small - just me, FI and possibly 6-8 guests. Any advice on questions I should ask the WC when we start the planning process? We are going with just the basic wedding package and adding a photo package. I would love to learn from everyone's experience!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
