Dreams Puerto Aventuras Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Welcome! I think you made a good choice. from what I know, everyone that go married at the dreams really had a perfect wedding. October and November are the worst months for hurricanes in that area. It is less expensive to travel then but...I choose to go the safe way and pay a little more in January. There are plenty of pictures of the resort on different sites. Sometimes you can find some great ones under the old name : sunscape. I don t how sending a few invites using a picture on the net could upset anyone...Good luck with that!

Hello everyone! I'm new to the site and am thrilled to say my fiance and I have chosen DPA for our wedding in June of 2011. I've read over most of the posts on this thread - wow, so much useful information!! Its great to have a place to chat with people in the same position as me and to get lots of support and 'insider' info on the resort and planning process. Thanks to all of you for posting your stories, pictures and ideas! I haven't contacted the resort or a TA yet but plan to soon - hopefully we can get June 11 for our date, as it has special meaning for us.

2 big questions to start me off... does anyone know if the resort offers scuba diving?? Very important to us. We also really want to take our guests on a catamaran sail after the ceremony, does anyone know if the tour company at DPA has a sailing excursion?

Thanks in advance, and I'm looking forward to chatting with all of you in the coming months!!

Janna, I have a few e-mail adresses for the hotel. I will try to send them to you using a private message. Its my first time.

Amy. The hotel offers free snorkling just off the resort. They will give you the equipment. We use our own. You can see many fish. Weve been to the calalonia just beside and we saw many fish. They also offer catamaran trips, we did the isla mujeres one form cancun, it was good but involved to much bus time and to full catamaran for us.

I am sure you can choose a custom trip with the marina, so many boats there. I remember reading about a family catamaran day previously on this tread, I think the price was mentionned too...

Welcome Amy! When I was there they had people offering free scuba diving lessons (part of the many daily activities at DPA). They held them in the pool. My brothers-in-law did the lesson...I think it was about one hour. After the lesson they invite you to go diving the next day. I'm not exactly sure where they were going to take you, though.

There are many excursions available. There are a few tour companies that sit in the lobby everyday and you can just walk up to them to see what they offer. If you email the resort they will also get you in touch with the tour people. Prior to my wedding I had inquired about the Tulum Ruins and they were very helpful.

Welcome Oscar Ernie! I feel for you... switching resorts after all that research. But you've picked an awesome resort. As for October vs 2011... my coworker planned to visit the area 2 weeks ago and had to cancel because of a hurricane. However, if you read back on the posts during the H1N1 (swine flu) outbreak, all the brides were able to change their flights and resorts last minute. Sounds hectic but if you really want to go in October and are flexible you can make it work.

As for a picture, I don't have one I've taken but check out the link Meghan recommended Dreams Puerto Aventuras. Also if you go on traveladvisor.com some DPA guest have posted pictures.

Welcome Amy,

Booking a date can be hard. It seems like everyone who had a travel agent book their date had an easier time. May 4th, a Tuesday, has a special meaning for us. But since we wanted to get married on a Saturday, so instead we decided to do our legal stuff in the states on the 4th.

Marryhimagain,

Thank you so much for the email address and the heads up about El Patio. I was all set to pay the extra money to have a reception there. There is no way my FI will be comfortable inside without air conditioning. So El Patio is out sad.gif Maybe Portfino or where Ginalynn got married.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
