  1. Hi ladies. I posted a review of the hotel on trip advisor if you want to know about the resort. I forgot to say that we really liked that you can eat wherever you want , when you want. No reservations or limit. Also you can get a beach towel without a card...so simple. Everything there is simple actually. The whole family, kids, couples, friends and grandma really appreciated this hotel for so many reasons, the staff the service, the food, the location it was perfect for everyone. We stayed in room 750 which was a normal room but with a breathtaking view of the ocean. The 7th floor is priviledge club and it is very nice. The upgrades are expensive but we were happy with what we had. However , if we go back , maybe we would choose the marina view because the ocean view was a little noisy sometimes. Also the negative thing about the private lounge on that floor is that if you have disrespecful people on the floor it is noisy for the rooms around. We thought that people would understand that the lounge is for people to relax and enjoy BUT there are people around sleeping. I guess some people just have to shout and yell when they talk! enough about that, the room and the service were excellent. The wedding: My fiance had an accident two days before the wedding but everything else was perfect. We choose to go two weeks , we left on a saturday and the family joined us the wednesday. We were very happy about that because we had a few days before to settle and a few days together after to relax for our honeymoon. Let me just say that you dont have to worry about ANYTHING BEFORE. I was obsessed by details before and I regret it because you dont really need anything else then what they have. It is just simple and amazing already with the ocean and the setting. It is so intense and it goes by so fast that I am happy I did not bring anything or buy any extras because i felt after that it was perfect that way. Again, choose everything when you get there and trust them for making this day perfect! We had the ceremony in the gazebo and it was very nice. It was very very windy that day but it made the day special and it also made very nice pictures! After we had champagne at the barracuda and took pictures. The minister was sweet but we felt rushed after the ceremony to sign the papers because he had another wedding! We choose to have the reception in the room above the el patio because it was so windy and I was very happy about that. It was more intimate then the beach and comfortable too. We had the cake and hung out outside after. Theres a small patio there. I made a mix of our wedding songs and had our pictures, names and the date of the wedding on the cd for the guests(I used light scribe). Everyone was happy and they all listen to it now! I also bought extra flowers for my hair and the flower girl and a bag of petals but they were gone with the wind in a few seconds! For the music, I made a list for the ceremony,(two songs: one for walking down the aisle and one for the toast), a list for the supper and one for the reception. We had speakers for the ceremony but after I had my own and it worked out fine. For food, we had an entree, soup and the steak and it was good. I am sure that every menu is good. The food is amazing at the resort! Before we left we had a last supper at the el patio and we were treated like royalty, really, the wedding was our best day ever but that evening was our best one too. We felt so special, those people are so nice and they all knew us because of the accident and the wedding! I dont know what else to say but you all made a good choice for a wedding location. Dont worry, all weddings there have to be perfect! I have pictures on photobucket and facebook. I will put more soon, I just have a few for now. You can e mail me any personnal question at mylenebessette@hotmail.com, add me as a friend on facebook to see all the pictures as soon as I post them or talk to me here, i will be back once in a while because this site helped me plan too! Dont worry girls, your wedding at DPA will be amazing! wedding dreams Mexico pictures by mylenebessette - Photobucket mylene bessette on facebook
  2. echo, garden view around 311 are perfect because you dont have people on top of you , the view is nice and it is very quiet...again, you dont have to pay for any upgrades...
  3. 2010 wedding, you should email directly the gm, ulize Guzman, thats what I did and he got evrything ready for us...
  4. Oups we had 15 guests. I am trying to post pictures but it says : invalid file when I try , whats the best way to do this?
  5. The price for the upgrades are ridiculous. At first I thought that was in pesos! ah ah The honeymoon suites are not worth it, the only thing different is the jacuzzi. What I did, with the GM was use my upgrade form air canada, the upgrade from the resort for the group and everything I was not using from my package to go towards the room. What that gave me is going from the garden to marina and then marina to ocean view and then we got a discount that we use for the priviledge club, that is to be on the last floor. The suites seemed nice but I dont know who pays for them wow. Furthermore , the ocean view was breathtaking but noisier then the marina view. We found the privilege club upgrade to be worth it. Let me know if you have any other question and agian , I am still working on my complete review and also trying to post pictures! My family was on the third floor with no one above them around room 311 and they had a nice quiet view of hte marina NOT on the restaurant, just beside. If I go again I will ask for those instead! Talk to you later
  6. Hi! I saw rainfall s wedding on Friday and we left yesterday. It was beautiful, she had the ceremony in the gazebo and reception on the beach. We got married at 4pm and it was a perfect time for us. The gazebo was oh so windy but it made really nice pictures with the wind and the waves. We had the reception in the private room above the el patio because it was so windy , it was all decorated for us, and free of charge. I was happy about that choice. Be careful because some things seems to change from one person to another and one year to another. They also try to charge you for some items but then if you say no, they do it anyway and you don t have to pay for it. I need to put the pictures on my computer but I m not sure how I can post them here... I will try along with my complete review. Its good to be home after 2 weeks. I am back all tanned, married and a qualified scuba diver ah ah! Rest assure ladies that you made a perfect choice in choosing the DPA for your wedding , it is more then perfect. Talk to you later
  7. Hi ladies. I am now at dpa and I am now married yay!! my fiance had an incident with a glass dorr when the family arrived and we went to the hostipalso the wedding pictures are very unique!! nonetheless, the wedding was perfect, very nice and simple, it was so windy but it made the day special and the pictures are breathtaking. rest assure that you don t have to plan anything before you get here. Thay take care of eveything , they are use to it. you can change you mind last minute and there is no problem. you don t need to detail everytthing because any wedding here will surely be nice. the only thing is that it went by too fast! The hotel is flawless, veryone in our group thought is was perfect and there is so many things to do around. Anyways, ill post pictures and a full review when I get home on saturday, two weeks is fantastic but we are starting to miss home, especially since it is noisier on the 7th floor th past two days... oh well, everything else is perfecto.talk to you soon!
  8. rainfall is next, I will see her wedding. They upgraded us free to the marina view because of air canada and again to a ocean view from the hotel. I was inquiring about a master suite and it was 1000$ a night which I found ridiculous! We had a discount form items not used in the wedding package and another 25% I cant remember why and we finally paid 1200$ to be on the 7th floor preferred club. I think their upgrades are VERY expensive. I never saw that anywhere else and we travel a lot,. Anyways thats what we choose to do. Hope its worth it. I will tell you all about it! ps:the regular upgrades were 100$ a night and 200$ for preferred club I think...I also think it depends on the time of year.

  12. Last minute question! Anyone knows if we can plug in our electric items directly in the plug or do we need a adaptor...
  13. the new wedding guide is on the DPA site, you can get it there. It says the blood test price is 150$ on one page and 175$ on the other! There are a few changes too. For example ,I wonder if I will be able to have the reception outside for 20$ a guest with the complimentary paradise package. the guide now says there an extra 700$ charge! We'll see when we get there, I'll let you know how eveything went. We leave this saturday!
  14. I forgot "you are so beautiful", I like that song. We already have Jason Mraz in our list. Our first dance is on "If it aint you" by Alicia keys. Thanks! We also have a few oldies like, time after, and every breath you take... Still working on it. 9 days left!
  15. Hi girls, I putting together a cd for the wedding and I will make copies for the guests... Any ideas of great love songs I could use? I have quite a few but...sometimes we forget a really good one!
  16. Wow thanks for that link, I really wonder where she got the flip flops for the guests...great idea!
  17. I know! When its cold , I think humm...Mexico is going to be even better! We also had 25 cm of snow last week. Here are the questions on the sheet: Arrival time, departure time, room reserved, wedding package, time of ceremony, number of guests, wedding location, legal ceremony or not, exchange of vows, wedding party, witnesses, order for walking down the aisle, will the bride be given away, cake at the ceremony or reception, kind of cake ( they have 3 choices, chocolate, vanilla or mexican milk cake), will there be a rehearsal, type of menu (platted or buffet), special seating, spa appointments, decorations and centerpieces, extra flowers and boutonniere, music (live or Dj for ceremony and reception), Will you bring your own music, any favors to the guest and how you want them to be delivered. I think thats about it. I gave my best answers at the time but I am sure we can decide or change things when we get there. I am done working next tuesday and off for two weeks, then two weeks again in Mexico. It came so fast youll see!
  18. Yesterday , it was - 32 in Quebec. I will be happy to go the other way +30 in 3 weeks now! yay! Ive been busy too, I am a teacher and christmas time is so so busy, + we moved last week end! It will be a well deserved 2 weeks rest for both of us + the family thats been helping a lot. I got a xcel file yesterday from Jacy for me to fill in any details for the wedding. I guess that a good sign. We also decided we will try to upgrade to a master suite so we can accomodate the family after the reception and ... well... its our wedding too! I hope they dont charge us too much...well see!
  19. Hi girls I am in the process of making my music lists for the wedding. I plan on taking my ipod with me and connect it to the sound system. We have a great song by ben harper or the hawaien version or somewhere over the rainbow for the ceremony (not sure yet) + one fron Jason Mraz for the toast. Any suggestions for the songs after, supper and reception? What are you girls using? 2 weeks of teaching and then its vacation time for me, christmas and mexico! cant wait!
  20. wow , just realized im the next bride on the list, 6 more weeks for our departure, 7 for the wedding! yé!
  21. Oups Amy, my mistake, I thought you meant snorkling, english is my second language!
  22. Janna, I have a few e-mail adresses for the hotel. I will try to send them to you using a private message. Its my first time. Amy. The hotel offers free snorkling just off the resort. They will give you the equipment. We use our own. You can see many fish. Weve been to the calalonia just beside and we saw many fish. They also offer catamaran trips, we did the isla mujeres one form cancun, it was good but involved to much bus time and to full catamaran for us. I am sure you can choose a custom trip with the marina, so many boats there. I remember reading about a family catamaran day previously on this tread, I think the price was mentionned too...
  23. Welcome! I think you made a good choice. from what I know, everyone that go married at the dreams really had a perfect wedding. October and November are the worst months for hurricanes in that area. It is less expensive to travel then but...I choose to go the safe way and pay a little more in January. There are plenty of pictures of the resort on different sites. Sometimes you can find some great ones under the old name : sunscape. I don t how sending a few invites using a picture on the net could upset anyone...Good luck with that!
  24. Wow beautiful pictures and beautiful bride! Thank you for sharing, I can t seem to understand how to find the other reviews for the drems puerto aventuras. Im still unsure about the reception but the lagoon looks gorgeous!
