Post your Hair and makeup ideas

Hey Tonir,

I am also fair-complected, with blond hair and blue eyes. I tanned prior to our trip since we traveled in January, the dead of winter, when I am the palest :)

I also desired a natural look, but one that could make my eyes "pop" on my big day and also enhanced my natural coloring (hair, eyes, and skin). When looking for makeup tips for the type of location/climate conditions we were marrying in I found many sources suggesting brides to AVOID the shimmery makeup for eyes and face, as in wedding day photos outside brides can look oily/sweaty. Of course, I didn't want to go for a sweaty/oily look but rather a polished but 'naturally done-up' look.

I went with a matte contouring palette (I don't typically contour my eyes w/ my everyday look but since I wanted my eyes to pop I went with a subtly-contoured look). I used a matte silver/gray on the lid, a matte charcoal (black would've been too dramatic for my coloring), and a matte white-ish color to highlight the inner corners of my eyes & my brow bones.

I also opted for fake lashes from Sally Beauty supply & in their store they provide a helpful pamphlet that guides you through selecting the right lash length, thickness, shape, etc. for the look you wish to achieve. I was really pleased with the outcome on my wedding day, and I also chose to do my own makeup since this was what I was most comfortable with. If you would like to see a photo, just message me or email me at [email protected] & I can try to find one to post for you.

HTH somewhat :)

Hello everyone!

I am trying to plan my hair and make up for my big day this coming May. I am fair complected and have blond hair/blue eyes. I generally see a lot of ideas out there for darker complected ladies. I did find some ideas for both my hair and make up. I also like my hair up but my fiance likes it down, I found some compromises to make us both happy. Here they are...

positanobride!!! i have been there! sooo beautiful. We just stopped through when we went to visit my cousin's boyfriend's family just outside of Napoli. All I remember is a long dirt road lined with artists and vendors ...many many beautiful flowers and a beautiful visitor's attraction garden. What a beauuuuuuuuuuuuuutiful place to get married. Are you Italian?

Simplnsweet- I am Italian-American. My dad is from Italy and so is my fiance's dad. I am from Palana, IT (Abbruzzi) and my fiance's dad is from Luca, IT (Tuscana). We are not beach people so that is why we thought of a European destination vice Mexico or Caribbean. We chose a location that we thought was beautiful and was not where we are from. I am booking this site unseen but I am so excited about everything. I just booked my hair appointment at a salon right up the street from my hotel. I have also talked to people who have been to Positano and no one has said anything bad. That makes me more excited about it all.

About the hair, I wear my hair up when I am home or on weekends. Its only down to go to work. I hate hair in my face so the half up-do works best. I also think it is a romantic look. I have to be careful with make up because I am fair but I definitely want to play up my baby-blues. I also have full lips and with my fair skin, I mostly weare mauve and more pink lip glosses so I don't look like a hooker. I know ladies with more olive skin can wear darker lip colors and it looks great. Again, yes, I am Italian but my mom is of Dutch descent so I got all of her genes when it came to my skin color, hair and eyes.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
