So this is what we know for now:
- We've been to Punta Cana once before and LOVE it. so we're thinking of going back there, but we heard that Mayan Riviera is beautiful too. No Cuba, as we will have Americans in the group
- Our group should be approximately 20 - 30 people travelling from Montreal (our home town), Edmonton (our new town) and Vancouver (my birthplace)
- Oh and definitely a beach ceremony - most likely a renewal of vows since we want to avoid too much paper work

I'm so excited!!!!
In the Riviera Maya Playa del Carmen is beautiful! Great little downtown and very diverse as far as the tourists - lots of Europeans, Americans, Canadians, etc. I love the hotel called "The Royal" which is located right next to downtown, literally walking distance. They do not allow kids tho (don't know if you're expecting children or not...).

I've also heard great things about Tulum. It's a longer drive from the airport than Playa del Carmen but this also gives you more seclusion. I would recommend Dreams Tulum there from what I've heard/seen on here.

Thanks for the information JaimeLynne

There will be kids with us, so I'll take a look at Dreams Tulum. I never heard of it and am curious. Would you happen to know the price range?

By the way, how do you add a picture to your messages??

No problem :)

There are also tons of other hotels near Playa del Carmen that you can look into - that is just my personal fav. wink.gif

I don't know the price range of Dreams Tulum but you could go on Expedia, Orbits, or something similar and check your dates out for an idea. I would definitely recommend getting a good Travel Agent though and not booking through those sites.

I'm assuming you are asking about the signature pics - for those you can go to "User CP" (upper left hand corner of this website), then to "Edit Signature". Your picture will need to have a URL address. You can upload it to a site like Myspace or Photobucket and then just copy & paste the URL address of the pic.

Don't be shy to start, this was my first forum too - Please ask if you have ANY questions! wink.gif

I'd second the Dreams Tulum suggestion; it's a beautiful location and there is a ton of information and newlyweds to help you out. I've only done a brief site visit, but it's an outstanding resort. :)

What did you like so much about PC that you'd like to incorporate in your wedding?

I'd have to agree with Ann, chosing the location was THE hardest decision. At least with a local wedding you can scope it out ahead of time, with a DW you have to trust what other people tell you is great... or shell out for a site visit. Check out the newlywed's reviews, I find those to be the most helpful and honest - and it can give you an excellent idea of setups and how things can look.

Hi Courtney and Jamielynne,

I read quite a bit about your recommendation, however, I'm just curious why both of you did not choose it?

Also, what I loved about PC was the white snad beach. Every morning it took my breath away...

welcome! choosing a place was definitely the hardest part! because there were no sentimental places for us, we narrowed it down by eliminating places we didn't want (for us - cancun, jamaica, florida, and a few others). then we narrowed by budget - knew we wanted an ai so no one would worry about constantly taking out a wallet. THEN we looked at the activities that places offered...my fi doesn't like the beach and doesn't know how to swim, so i needed a place that had other things to keep him busy. he really wanted atlantis in the bahamas, but it's $$$$ and not ai...so we had to find a resort with similar amenities.

at that point we got frustrated and picked the first place that emailed us back. and then i read all these mixed reviews, had a panic attack and wanted to change my mind, but i think many brides do...now we're a month + away, and i can't wait! just remember that you have plenty of time to make a final decision, and there are loads of informed brides (and grooms) here to help you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
