November 2008 is what we're aiming for. Preferably the 3rd week.

I look forward to reading what you all have to share!!

Hello and welcome to the forum. Picking the location was the hardest part of the destination wedding process for me. You have definitely come to the right place for ideas/suggestions/comments/help/etc. Please let us know a little bit more about what you envision (i.e. number of guests, church vs beach ceremony, Caribbean vs. Mexico vs. somewhere else, where your guests will be traveling from, etc.) so that we can help!

I agree - picking the location was/is the hardest decision for us! It's also fun though. And if you have the extra money, site visits are a blast and a great excuse for a little get-away vacation wink.gif

Like the other girls said, if you can give us some more info on the type of wedding you envision we can help out more.

Good luck and welcome3.gif

Thanks for the warm welcome! I was shy to start as this is the FIRST forum I ever joined

So this is what we know for now:

- We've been to Punta Cana once before and LOVE it. so we're thinking of going back there, but we heard that Mayan Riviera is beautiful too. No Cuba, as we will have Americans in the group

- Our group should be approximately 20 - 30 people travelling from Montreal (our home town), Edmonton (our new town) and Vancouver (my birthplace)

- Oh and definitely a beach ceremony - most likely a renewal of vows since we want to avoid too much paper work

I'm so excited!!!!

Welcome to the forum! Riviera Maya is gorgeous. Mexico is nice because it is fairly safe for your guests to leave resort property for day trips and excursions. Some of the caribbean locations you have to stay on resort because it is dangerous for tourists off property. You still have lots of time to decide.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
