Shaun here...

I'm the groom (seems the bride normally posts on this site, but oh well)

Wedding date Aug 30, 2008.

Location: Somewhere in Jamaica

Not sure exactly where yet... just browsing through the forums to get an idea of where exactly.

I would like to do it primarily in Montego Bay, but Ochi and Negril is looking good after browsing the forums... thats it for now!

Just a quick question about Rui... as it seems most people here have their weddings there

Does 80% of your guests really need to stay there? Most of the people attending would be from Jamaica and I dont think any of them would want to stay at the hotel.

I was thinking about inviting about 100 people (only about 20 - 25 would be from Canada / US). And I doubt even they would want to stay at Rui...

Welcome. My fiancee questions me daily about what happens on here. I wouldn't be suprised if he logs on when I am not home, so you aren't the only guy.

My travel agent told me that 80% must stay and the others have to pay a day pass fee to attend. I heard Riu is strict on the 80% thing, but contact them to find out for sure. You may have to book off site.

Thanks everyone for your comments...

I will try contacting them directly to find out about the guest requirements... but in any case that wasnt my primary choice.

Someone else had posted The Ruins... the pictures look nice... so I'll also contact them and get a quote from that place as well.

My first choice was actually breezes Montego Bay... but they can only accomodate 60 people

So... any suggestions are welcome for locations...I've already checked out sandals but they were out of my range

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
