Welcome to the forum! Coming from the west coast, your best bets are probably the west coast of Mexico. That would keeps flights shorter and cheaper which is a big factor for 100 guests. As others have recommended, you may want to avoid Memorial Day weekend b/c prices do go up.

We were having a lot of trouble deciding on a location so we contacted Destination Weddings Travel. DestinationWeddings.com - Destination Weddings and Honeymoons Working with a TA we were able to price out packages in a number of locations and get realistic estimates and good advice on resorts. Another good resource was the Knot book on destination weddings. This forum though is incredibly helpful.

You may want to act quickly though. May is fast approaching and some people need time to budget and get time off work for such a trip.

Good luck planning and le us know how we can help.

I had looked into doing a Costa Rica wedding, but it was on the expensive side for us and our guests. You might want to consider Mexico and then maybe doing a honeymoon in Costa Rica. :-) Good Luck and we'll help any way we can!

I agree - Mexico might be a less expensive option. From you're post it sounds like you really want a beach / tropical setting?

Regardless - I agree with Lady P - you're in the right place - you'll find lots of advice and help here ... Welcome!

I agree with the other brides that mention west coast Mexico. Since I'm a west coaster as well it has been very convenient for my guests to book a quick flight to Mexico. You may find some want to only make a weekend of it (so a quick flight means less time traveling-especially if they are only going for a few days this is important.) Some will stay a week. Your guests will want a vacation too!

I planned my wedding during spring break to accommodate my family but it does make it more expensive for EVERYONE when they have to travel during busy times. Just one thought to keep in mind.

And your budget of $20K is easily reachable. I think we stayed around $15K- which we included everything in our budget wedding related- rings, attire, cost of travel/stay.

Good luck and happy planning.

Welcome & Congrats!!! Memorial weekend is high season for airfare. My husband & I initially planned on getting married sometime in May but with the air fare & hotel rates being so high we decided to get married off-season. But then we couldn't decide where to have the wedding. Then.... we went to Dreams Los Cabos on vacation and we fell in love. We got married Nov. 29th, 2007. I highly the recommend Dreams Los Cabos, MX. It's a 6 star hotel & all inclusive. The best way to go!!! Their wedding package is reasonable. The weather in November is 80 degrees everyday. We couldn't asked for a perfect day everyday. We had about 35 guest and girl.... they all had a blast! If you have any questions, please let me know.

Good luck in your planning

Cheers

Welcome to the forum!!! I am getting married in mexico on memorial day weekend next year... I am pretty sure on the east coast may is "off-season". I can tell you that right now flights from NY to cancun (with one stop) are around $320.00, but I dont know how long that will last. Also, if you are looking for affordable options I remember DR being pretty inexpensive. Good luck and happy planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
