Vancouverpetunia - Now Sapphire - April 7, 2016

Recommended Posts

I've stopped having wedding dreams, which is weird, but I had a few that were pretty bad and I woke up totally stressed :P. I found that they usually came around when I had things nagging at me and for one reason or other I couldn't get around to doing them. Maybe dreams was the only way for that anxiety to come out. Also, when I felt like some things were out of my control, like the dress alterations. I dreamed that they cut it above the knee and they put printed flowers all over bahaha. It was just a terrible looking dress and I cried when I saw it haha.

Hopefully they'll go away as you get closer to the date :)

@@vancouverpetunia That's hilarious!!! I've had some crazy wedding dreams as well but haven't in a little while.

I do remember having one before my friend's wedding. As one of the bridesmaids I was running around the day of the wedding looking for my shoes, my dress, my hair wasn't done etc. and the bride was just sitting waiting for me the get my act together! ha! It was such a stressful dream and I felt so anxious waking up!

@@vancouverpetunia I've just caught up reading your thread and I love your groomsman's attire! I've been wanting to cross the border to go shopping with my fiancé but haven't been able to since he's kept procrastinating in getting his passport renewed. Men! I'm hoping we can go next month. I'm too scared to go to the new outlet, I hate crowds!

Quick Update

We've decided that my parents will pay for the excursion so that should get booked this week. They said they don't need to be "advertised as hosting it" which will allow us to still say whatever we want in terms of a thank you to our guests.

Also very excited that a friend of ours has offered to play a musical instrument of our choice for when I walk down the aisle. Could be sax, flute, clarinet, not sure what else he plays. For the Canadian ladies on here, he is the saxophonist for the Colin James band which some of you might be familiar with. I had thought about asking him, but wasn't sure. But he volunteered on his own last night I'm very honored.

Invitations

I bought a Vistaprint Groupon that I thought was good through the end of August, but just realized it expires July 31, so now scrambling to finalize invitations. Oops! Originally I wanted something custom off Etsy with a "papel picado" theme, but then I realized that most people don't know what papel picado is and won't likely make the connection to the small amount I will have hanging at our reception. I think I will cancel the custom Etsy order - haven't paid for it or have them start any work on it yet. Plus it will save me $60 to go with a Vistaprint template.

Other issues:

  • My colors are not 100% nailed down. Going green/blue/teal-ish, but have not finalized it. I wouldn't worry about it too much since no one is really going to remember if my invitations match whatever colors are at the wedding, but I was also going to order matching placecards... Maybe I will wait to order the placecards in case we end up going a different direction with colors.
  • Not sure what to put as the RSVP date. Our wedding is April 7, 2016, and I believe numbers are due to the resort about a month in advance. Our early booking bonus deadline has passed, but the final travel deadline is early Dec (we're in Canada). I'm not mentioning the travel deadline on the invitation, as this info has already gone out by email and I don't think there are many more people who will book.
  • I wanted to get matching table numbers, but how do you do this? I only need one card that says "Table 1", not 10! Again, will probably wait to order this.

Debating between these two colors (same design):

oh tough choice! Love the colours!! I think I'm leaning towards the second option but i don't know I keep going back and forth when I look at them.

As for vistaprint…I'm afraid I'm no help. I haven't ordered from them yet but I'm sure the other brides will be able to help you out!

@@vancouverpetunia both invites are beautiful but my vote (if you are unsure of your colour) is option two because it has less of the teal/green. I like the cohesive-everything-sort-of-match idea but you are 100% right - no one will notice. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

I vote for # 2 as well, they look great!!

You are right no one will notice if your colors match your invite - especially if they are in the same color family!

My invites had a lighter pink ticket jacket because at the time I couldn't find fuchsia. No one noticed or cared really!

I also agree that you can't go wrong either way.  I do know that with Vistaprint you need to use the price of the groupon in one go or you forfeit the promotional value.  So I would keep that in mind depending how much your invites cost against your groupon!

With respect to your table numbers and vistaprint.  Unless you order something that is large and only comes in the quantity of 1 you will be stuck with extras :(    When I did my business card items I would generally do the special ones where I could order 50 but when I wanted to do a card using the front and back, I had to order 100. I had to throw the rest out because I had no use for them.   Sucks but I don't think you will find another way around it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
