2015-2016 Moon Palace Brides

Recommended Posts

@FutureMrsSam   you can do what we are.  Just ask them to set up the cocktail hour on the grassy area exactly next to the terrace.   Usually they use the grassy area across the walkway, but just ask your coordinator and they can accommodate it.

@Moonpalacebride2be   -  We have less than 3 months to go!  We are getting married at Moon on June 23, 2015.  Right now just waiting for last minute guests to book.    We have right now 21 guests booked, but after the rest do we should have about 37-43 guests total.

We are getting married at the Tucan Gazebo,  cocktail hour booked for Tucan Garden and reception for Tucan Terrace.  What we are going to do is use the grassy area just to the right of Terrace for our cocktail hour.    Typically the garden area is right next to the gazebo, but you can always ask to do it right next to terrace if you want.  Just got to ask.   We figured it would be easier for the Music Vendor to have the speakers right there.

We are doing the complimentary package.

Vendors:

PSAV for Ipod system setup.

Bicoastal Images for wedding day and TTD photography    (outside vendor)

Hair & Makeup -  using resort salon.    trying to save $ so using resort credits for this

Add-ons:

horse carriage ride

1 extra hour to reception

1 extra tier to cake    (cake flavors:   chocolate on bottom layer,  strawberry on top layer)

Colors:     Coral, Aqua and Gold

Flowers:   DIY  made myself   7 bridesmaid bouquets   1 bridal bouquet.   using the free one from resort for toss.  we are going to use the bridesmaid bouquets after for centerpieces.

Décor:  bringing my own

table runners, signs, chair sashes,  starfish chair hangers, DIY menus, DIY vases, Mr&Mrs signs. I have more.

really need to start typing up my planning board for you all...

@@Wafflesmom it's been a week since I sent in my wedding contract and have yet to receive my group conract, I emailed them this morning to followup.. I'm Canadian too :) I'm in Winnipeg :D  I'll ask my TA if she can look after that for me.. what did your group contract include?

Initally I wanted to decorate myself but the thought of travelling with my decorations wasn't appealing to me  Plus I'm not crafty so making DIYs gives me a bit of anxiety lol

Good idea!! I'll see if I can find one cause so far I haven't had any luck finding my dress :(

Another Canadian bride? Yay!!! Yes, definitely get your TA to see if they can contact them for you. My TA is a destination wedding specialist and she travels to resorts quite often so she has her connections. Even my wedding coordinator knows who she is so I was quite impressed! Are you asking about the air travel contract or palace contract? We went with Air Transat and we get every 11th person free. We also get priority boarding, a reserved overhead cabin for my wedding dress, free seat selection and I think we get a free room upgrade.

My fiancé hates the idea of travelling with a lot of decorations so most of it is rented from LatinAsia. I'm bringing a few things but not a lot

And I hope you find your dress!!!

@@moonpalacebride2be yay we have the same locations! My coordinator recommended them to me and said those are her favourite locations.

I'm not great with makeup or hair and thought this was one day I don't mind splurging! We've booked them to do mine, my MOH, two bridesmaids, MOB and MOG. It will be fun having everyone get ready in the room and drinking champagne. We're having photos taken whole getting ready too.

LatinAsia is a preferred vendor for flowers and decor. Just double check with your coordinator since Palace has done a lot of changes in the wedding dept. LatinAsia is great to deal with and super responsive. I have heard great things about Maya Floral so you can't go wrong with them.

Our colors are coral and grey and have also gone with the complimentary wedding package since I wanted to decorate it however way we want. We've rented a chuppah with white draping because I like that look better. The one with the complimentary package is nice but I've always envisioned it to look a certain way.

I'm not very creative so I won't be doing too many DIYs. The only thing would probably be our table numbers and my friend is making our place cards. I do like the Polaroid idea so I may also do that.

Who's your photographer?

Yes I did a lot of reading on older threads (took forever but so worth it- I learned so much lol) which was what lead me to choose the locations that I did!  Good to hear that I made a good choice!  In regards to decorations I am wanting to stay within budget and this is the main area I am trying to cut costs in, we are buying a house this year so I have to make cuts somewhere lol!  I will be doing all the diy's that I can that don't take up a lot of room :)  I like coral and grey- that will look so pretty at the ocean.  Our colors are tiffany blue, white and silver.  My photographer is Ivan Luckie- I am a huge fan of his style and his prices are very reasonable.  I also LOVE his underwater TTD shots so we will be doing that as well.

In regards to hair, my mom just told me today that she wants to pay for me and my 3 bridesmaids to get our hair done in our room, what I nice surprise!  I emailed styling trio yesterday morning but still haven't heard back :/ I hate waiting! lol.

I also looked into flowers a little more and discovered that you can buy bulk flowers from Flores Riviera Maya.  The selection is limited but the prices can't be beat and I don't think it would take me long at all to make some bouquets.  I might use them as I can get SO MANY flowers inexpensively :)

Did you hear back about your wedding contract?  I hope so!  They responded to my TA fairly quickly, I hope this gets sorted out for your sanity :)  I agree about traveling with decorations- it is going to majorly suck!  I really want to give guests a bubba cup in an OOT bag too which is going to take up SO much room  -_-

OOOOh your wedding is SOON!  I bet you can't wait.  I want to see a planning board! I haven't seen too many photos of the garden/grassy area by the gazebo- I will have to look into that!  Why do you think the area by the terrace is better then the one across the walkway?

how much is it to add an extra tier to the cake?  I might want to do that as well!  You have so many diy things- I can't wait to see them!

@@moonpalacebride2be I love your colours! I wish I was creative bc I do agree that it would save a .ot of money! The exchange rate is really eating into our budget and it's an unexpected cost. I didn't anticipate our Canadian dollar to be so low!

That's great about the bulk flowers are you just ordering flowers for your bouquets or for the centrepieces as well?

And I just asked my coordinator about the extra tier and it's only $99 usd

Thank you!  :D I am planning on getting flowers just for the bouquets and getting bluum boxes to put them in for the reception, so they can do double duty!  My guess is we will have the same amount of tables as bouquets so it should work out perfectly :D However I do also plan on getting some additional bouquets for the ceremony/guest book table.   At that price I do feel like I could have as many flowers as I want :D  What are you planning to do for your centerpieces?

Does anyone know how large the tables are for the reception?

@@moonpalacebride2be don't forget the complimentary bouquet you get with the package, you can also use those for the guest book table if you weren't going to use them as your bridal bouquet. I believe you get a dozen roses.

If you don't mind me asking, how much are the flowers? Can you pm me? Perhaps I can do something similar for decor. I'm still trying to figure out centerpieces. I like the idea of tall centerpieces and have thought about babysbreath but I want colour. Still looking through Pinterest for some ideas.

And thanks for asking about the tables! I had the same question

That is a good idea, I actually keep forgetting about that bouquet lol.

Here is the link for the bulk flowers:

http://www.floresrivieramaya.com/eng/wholesales.php

They will deliver the flowers to your hotel, they have good reviews, and they also have inexpensive bouquets and I have heard that they will custom make one for you if you would like.  I really like how all of their prices are listed on the website- as someone who is trying to do flowers on a budget I like not having to ask for a quote for everything lol  :)

Hello fellow MP brides!

We are 15 days away from leaving for Cancun, I can't believe how quickly it's gotten here! I keep going over and over my lists, feeling like I'm forgetting something, but I'm hoping it's just nerves :) I figured I would share what we have arranged for our big day, if anyone has any questions let me know!

Guests: We are at 47 people, including us. We've had a few last minute changes, which came as a surprise even though everyone on these threads has said to expect it :) Luckily it didn't change our 75 room nights that we hit so hopefully there are no more changes we have to deal with!

OOT bags: I bought papel-picado themed bags from the Wedding Chicks shop that say Muchas Gracias on them. Inside there will be a welcome letter using our invite stationary (my sister designed all of our STD's, invites, signs, etc), personalized drink mugs (purchased from the Factory21 shop on Etsy), and a First Aid kit (small muslin bag filled with advil, pepto, bandaids, makeup remover wipes for the girls, and hand sanitizer wipes. I made my own red cross stamp and painted it onto the outside of the bag). There will be 7 kids attending so they are all getting different bags filled with pool toys, games, etc. instead of the meds kits. I debated adding something else but since the bags and cups weren't cheap I decided against it :) I figured for our crowd those would be the things used the most to that's what I decided to stick to!

Welcome dinner at the Grand Terrace the night before the wedding - no decor besides some personalized drink napkins.

Ceremony at the Caribbean beach: I'm getting the complimentary package and added in some coral sashes on the seats along the aisle (our colors are blue, greens, and pops of coral), and large antique-looking lanterns (that will later be moved to the reception space). Other than that just letting the natural beauty shine! I bought about 20 vintage-looking handkerchiefs and there will be a small table near the seats with a sign that says "hankies for your happy tears". I haven't decided how to display them yet, I keep going back and forth and really need to make a decision ASAP!

Cocktail hour at the Tucan garden: No decor besides the personalized drink napkins

Reception at the Tucan terrace: We are renting decor from Gama, who was so easy to work with! Prices are a little high but we are keeping it pretty simple. I'm renting five 10-person wooden rectangle vintage looking tables (plus a sweetheart table for the two of us), with a table runner in muslin and clusters of small vases/flowers. I am debating bringing small candles, but am not sure how necessary it will be. There will be coral napkins and I got turquoise maracas (that I personalized with a k&k tag that I made using a stamp bought on Etsy). I'm doing 3 strings of the white chinese lanterns over the dance floor, and the large antique floor lanterns will be moved from the ceremony. I also got the mexican lounge set for a hang out area next to the bar. I made my place cards and they will be displayed in hammered tin trays filled with sand. I'm also going to get a piñata when we are down there and cut a hole in the top as the card holder (I got a little wooden sign that says Cards to put around it).

Flowers: I decided to get my bouquets and bouts made out of fake flowers so that I'm able to easily save them/transport them back home. I didn't want to deal with the expense and hassle of flowers once we are there and I love that I know exactly what I'm getting. I'll be using the complimentary bouquet as decor on the cake/cards/seating cards table. Other than this the only flowers we will be getting are through Gama as part of the decor in the little vases along the middle of the tables.

DJ: We hired DiscoMovil, who has great reviews and prices!

Photographer: I took a risk on this and am using a friend of a friend and paying for her trip in exchange for photos. She is with us for 3 days and will be taking pictures during our little bachelorette evening, welcome dinner and of course the big day. She's only done a few weddings but based on her pictures I felt like she would do a good job. It was a great way for us to cut the cost a bit and ensure we will be getting lots of candids (which are more important to us) versus a stranger coming in for a bunch of posed pictures. Fingers crossed it works out as expected!

I think that's about it for all the big stuff! Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
