Wedding Dress Shopping By Yourself?

Recommended Posts

I get the same way a lot of times. I have a certain dress in my mind that I would like but when it comes to trying that certain dress on I think maybe it won't look right on me. Then I have to try to find one that do. I get disappointed like that too when something I had envisioned don't exactly go as planned.

So @@pddcmc what have you got done so far in regards to planning your DW? resort is picked I see? did you lock down rates with an airline/travel agent? Have you sent out save the dates/invitations yet? Have you spoken with a coordinator on site?

HA! Girl, I only have our wedding date booked. We aren't able to our book room and airline until the end of May (from what I understand, they can't do it sooner than 11 mos out).

When we decided to do a DW, we sent out emails and called people asking who would be able to attend and provided people with the estimated cost from our TA. So, as far as save the dates go, I think I am going to save some $$ by sending out an interactive email invitation (if that makes sense). By August, I would like to have the formal invitations in the mail. With that being said, my expectation is that everyone will book through our TA for the group rate and they can direct all of their questions at her. AND she said she would stay on top of people to RSVP in plenty of time so that I don't have to worry about it.

Is your H2B involved a whole lot in your wedding planning? Mine just keeps saying, "whatever makes you happy, will make me happy." I wish he had a little more to say about it all, but he is such a guy...

hahaha @@pddcmc I can totally relate. My FI says the same thing. I tell him what's been done and he just goes along with it. He basically will show up and eat and drink and say I do. It would be nice to have a little say but he butts in there every now and again and gives an opinion.

My name is Kristy btw haha

@@malyna - lol I think mine gets more annoyed when I say pick one out of these 3 lol. Oh well, he has an open mind is letting me do whatever I want, within reason so I shouldn't whine so much lol

@@kcole123 - Hi Kristy! My name is Tricia. I am so lame - I am still super excited that we have the same wedding date! It is so helpful because I feel like we are pretty much on the same track with things.

Haha my FI is so useless with helping too. He acts like it's a big pain if I ask him to even choose between 2 things. All he has contributed with is crunching some numbers. I'm making him help me assemble our invitations tonight though, or it'll take me forever!

As long as he hands over his credit card when he needs to, I'm okay with that :D

@@pddcmc - Yes, please update on the dress shopping!!!

I already have my dress but I still have an appointment at Kleinfields at the Bay next month because they're opening one in Toronto! I have to go for the experience - but I know this can be potentially really dangerous too :P

It was really fun, and stressless. I was nervous at first, but the consultants at Wedding Gallery and Clarice's Bridal were so sweet and down to earth!

Even though I had an appointment at David's Bridal, the consultant and the manager treated us like we were an inconvenience (we were the only ones in the store!, it wasn't close to closing time!, and I had an appt!). DB had some really pretty dresses, but due to the poor customer service, I think I will be purchasing elsewhere.

I found two dresses that I reaaaally love, but couldn't commit to either yet, at least not without my sissy. So, the plan is for her to fly here in the next few months and make a decision. My sister wanted me to go to Kleinfields with her (there's one not too far from here), but I think that will be too stressful if I found a dress there..

@@tygrrlily - brag on your dress, girl! give us a picture post! lol

@@pddcmc - Yay, glad you had a good experience at the 2 boutiques! That's too bad that DB wasn't the same. I think the sales people really do make the experience. Do you have the names of the dresses you can post? I love looking at dresses :). That's so nice that your sister is going to fly down there to see it with you!

I posted mine in one of the other threads. I don't have any pics of me in it, but here it is on the model. I ended up with a sample Monique Lhuilier gown! It's already hanging in my closet haha. Let me try and attach the pic

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
