Hi ladies!

So excited for this forum.  I was initially considering the Riu Palace Mexico for my destination wedding next June 2015 however I saw pictures of a wedding on the beach with people literally just watching right behind.  We asked for private options and never heard back from the hotel.  So we have ruled them out.

In 2013 we travelled twice to the Riviera Maya Gran Yucatan platinum side and loved it sooo much!

I'm reading this thread and thinking about considering it for the wedding.  My only reservations are these:

1.  The beach isn't as nice as other venues we thought about like the Riu has turquoise waters this one is ok.

2.  When we were at the Princess in june 2013 the mosquitos were insane...if we go with the beach wedding reception I'm worried we will all be eaten alive.  Does anyone know if it was ok with mosquitos for the beach receptions?

Looking forward to hearing back from anyone who has had a wedding experience here! ;)

Hi @@nikkicraig10

I just booked my wedding at GSP for June 2015 and I was reading this thread and found it helpful.

I was wondering if you could clarify something for me as we have not received the 2015 pricing yet.

You mentioned it was an extra $750 for the Ocean front ceremony - is that the Riviera Gazebo or is that like a special beach set up.

please let me know.   I have fallen in love with the Riviera Gazebo set up but unsure of the prices.

thank you in advance!   :)

Hi there,

We are also getting married at the Grand Sunset Princess. The riviera gazebo was included in all their wedding packages. The additional cost was only if we used the ocean gazebo.

I hope that helps.

Thanks for the information!  How exciting!  when is your wedding? Which set up did you decided on?
We have the location tentatively booked for the Riviera Gazebo as we are curious to see what new options may exist with the new Platinum Yucatan All Suites Resort. (their new hotel)

Have you seen any Ocean Gazebo pictures?  I know the Sunset Gazebo is right by the chillout area and the Riviera Gazebo is in the middle of the platinum beach area but I don't know anything about the Ocean Gazebo.  Do you?

Hey,

Do you know when the 2015 pricing will be out? We are having our wedding this coming up January.

I also believe the sunset gazebo is included. That's where we booked ours and we didn't have to pay any extra cash.

Just wondering what other brides are doing for after the wedding. Are you having a reception? And if you are where did you choose. Our TA also told us that an option would be having a private cocktail party for four hours and a dance if we wanted to save costs and not do the whole seated dinner at the reception.

We're unsure still as of what we are doing. So I was hoping to see what others have chosen and why.

Thanks!

Hi @@April2015

I just received prices for the princess. The prices were for 2012-2014 until October 2014 so I suspect that their pricing will come out this fall. November 2014- October 2015.

I will write more detail later but I thought id share this info. ;)

hey @@April2015

That's exciting that your wedding is coming up this January!  So fun.

The Sunset Gazebo is so pretty.  I have seen a lot of pictures with the gazebo done up in white and then with flowers.  Looks so pretty!

I am leaning towards the Riviera Gazebo -but I am also open to the Sunset and Oceanfront.

We are thinking of doing the reception at the Chillout.  My fiancé is a DJ so we are going to have him premix a set and use it there...  he'll know how to get the party started! : )

I have a question for you...I have read a few posts about the cocktail party on the beach alternative and I was wondering if you had the pricing for that?

thanks! :)

@,

The cocktail hour for a reception is $25 pp, from 8-10 pm, this years price. They call it

" Open bar " I think it's better option for me because I wasn't going to have a reception because it cost too much. Didn't know until a short time ago about this option. It's way more affordable. We can have our semi private dinner at the restaurant and then go to the beach! If We can play music off our own sound system that we're bringing, then it's totally affordable!

But I didn't know it was $1800 for a dance floor! Holy crap! So who knows, I'm still indecisive.

I believe that the $1800 for the dance floor is optional.  I've read that a lot of brides that chose not to do the floor have had fun beach dance parties on the sand and that fine too.  I probably won't go with the dancefloor option as I find it very expensive.

We are thinking of doing the reception at the chillout but I don't know if the chillout has it's own dance floor or if they move the dance party to the beach area after.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
