Engaged less than 3 weeks. Picked date last night . October 31, 2014. Punta Cana . Halloweeeeeen wedding. Lol I'm gonna get a lot of hell for that one.
Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the forum :) have you picked a resort yet? At least with a wedding date like that you FI won't forget your anniversary! Lol

My thoughts exactly. Besides there will always be a party going on for our anniversary. No ... I haven't picked a resort. I did decide I want the reception at the jellyfish. I asked her to hold the date for. Resort? Spoke with Patty a TA on here. I guess I'll keep reading and maybe visit a few places in August. I'm a flight attendant so it's certain,y easier for me than most to go check out the venues.

Hey All : )

Just wanted to jump in and say hello - this thread seems to be active and I would love to make some connections!

I enjoy reading up on what others are doing and hope to share some of my planning as well!

As of right now I'm going to be a St. Lucia Bride in October 2014.  I haven't booked anything yet - but I've been planning for months and can't think of a reason why I would change my mind at this point.

Hopefully I will have time to book everything this weekend.  Kind of makes it real!!  hahehe Yay

I'm so jealous! I wanted to do St. Lucia, but I couldn't figure out a way to make it work financially,  :( Your wedding is going to be beautiful---with that backdrop, how could it not be???  I can't wait to see your plans!

I'm a 2014 bride as well! So excited!!! We have finally decided for Barcelo in Riveria Maya on May 16, 2014. We haven't decided which resort yet but most likely Colonial/Tropical or Palace Deluxe. Congrats to you all Brides! Any of you ladies a Barcelo Bride for may? Would love to start networking with you all and maybe even have a drink or two while there. Lilly
Hi Lily! Congratulations! I am sorta in the same boat here. I spoke with a TA who is friend of the fam and she recommended barcelo a few months ago BUT she also told me to wait until July/aug to book and now I'm kinda annoyed that she hasn't spend more time with me assuring me about Barcelo or even reached out to me to confirm anything. So that being said, I'm wondering if Barcelo is really the way to go. My main concerns are, is July to hot for an outdoor reception? Will strawberry package be too expensive for 30 people. Are there other resorts with better pricing and options out there? I know you are getting married in May but do you have any thoughts for me? Why did you decide on Barcelo? I emailed them and Aurea (WC) told me that date is open but I have confirmed anything. Thanks!

Hi Ladies!! I am also a 2014 bride. I had posted on this thread months ago and wow I went from being undecided to thinking I would get married at the Gran Caribe. Well few months later, we have a wedding date set for July 25, 2014 at the Barcelo Maya Palace in Riviera Maya. We already booked out site visit leaving exactly a year till the wedding. We are hoping to send our STDs after we return. I want to take a nice picture on the beach to put on our STDs. This weekend we went to clean my e-ring and walked out with our bands! I'm also in the process of booking the photographer. We have decided on Ivan Luckie. I'm soo excited that things are starting to fall into place. Can't wait!!
Hi Lori, I have my heart set on July 12th (my moms bday) and right now I'm thinking Barcelo Maya Palace too. My concerns are: Is July too hot for outdoor reception? If not, is strawberry package too expensive? Are there any resorts that might be a better fit for us? Am I waiting too darn long and should I hurry up and book?!!! Can you tell me why you chose Barcelo? I have been seeing Now Jade on this forum a lot and wondering if I should look into them. Congratulations on fellow July 2014 bride!!!!!!!

Hey BrownSugarBride,

That's too bad you couldn't make St. Lucia work but I can't imagine your wedding not being amazing in Mexico too!!  Any place with sand and palm trees seems like a good choice : )

Have you been to St. Lucia?  I have not - but for some reason it was the first place I thought of when we started this whole wedding thing .. hehe

I actually have my Save the Dates made (almost completely) - I just need to book the resort before I finish them to make sure I get the date I want.  Which actually is my second choice : (

The only thing so far that St. Lucia hasn't been perfect about is allowing me to have the date I wanted.  Ohh well

How far along are you with all that stuff??

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
