This is what they say....

BOTTLE SPIN
If you're having a beach wedding and think engraved wedding invitations seem a bit washed-u, mail a message in a bottle instead. Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk and Lhotse Merriam sent each of their wedding guests a Coca-Cola bottle stuffed with an invite created to look like a treasure map...

Check out www.islandweddinshops.com or

www.invitationinabottle.com (here you can create a custom message that come sin a bottle with sand, shells, a cork and raffia or ribbon, then have it mailed to your guests ($39.99, 20-bottle minimun). They also offer do-it-yourself kits ($23.99, 19 bottle minimum)

I think oriental trading company has some similar to these that are not nearly as pricey - I would check them out too. Very cute idea that would get guests in the mood to hit the beach!

Sarah-I was considering making my own...buying the sand from pie one or some arts store than printing out a map of Cabo on a peice of paper....stainning the paper with tea so it looks all old and worn out...than burning the edges of the paper...i thinki t would be a lot of work but so much fun....

gotta start drinking a lot of coke for the bottles....I'll do a draft and post it on here to get your advice

Erika - those are really nice! Will you send me the info for your professional printer?

Those are beautiful- thanks for sharing. Is this the printer you are referring to in SoCal or is that someone separate?

Valerie,

I love your inspiration photos! I've seen those somewhere & they were really expensive. I can't wait to see the ones you create!

OK, so the idea to get my arsty cousin to design my invites is not working. So, I went thru a stage where I thought I would make my own from scratch, that's just too ambitious for me with the time I have available. This is where I am now: I've ordered a "mock-up" kit from cardsandpockets.com to do a semi-DIY invitation. What I like is they have all of the components cut to size for you, you just have to do the printing & assembly. I'll post my first try when I receive the kit. This is what I'm going for, only in my colors of aqua, white & either yellow or green:

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
