How long did it take you to get your Quotes from Travel Agent?

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I'm just starting the wedding planning now for next spring

I'm wondering if anyone can chime in and tell me how long it took you to get Quotes on hotels from your Travel Agent?

I'm working with a TA here in Toronto and I'm finding I'm waiting forever to get quotes back... and I'm on a time crunch so I'm starting to panic a little. The hotel seems to be booked almost solid from what I can tell by reading these forms for the few weeks I was hoping to travel on next year. I have to wait for my quotes, in order for the TA to even check to see if there is a day free to do the wedding, and days are going by and Ive got nothing! I need to know, as if its booked, I need to start getting quotes on other places...

Is this normal? I'm probably just impatient but I just want to secure the resort and date but feel like its taking forever!

Did you check with the resort first to see if dates where available or did you have your TA do it?

How long did it take you to get your quotes?

Thanks!

k

Hey there and welcome to BDW.  I had already narrowed down the resorts that I was interested in prior to finding my TA. So I already made contact  and was aware of which resorts had my specific date available.  Of the four resorts that I contacted (all AM Resorts) I received a response anywhere between 2 to 48 hours from my initial inquiry.  Once I found my TA (who I totally love) and sent my initial inquiry with the names of the resorts, she forward group rates 2 hours later for all four.  In most cases, it should be easier for a TA to get in touch with the resort wedding coordinator because most have long standing relationships in place.  If this doesn't seem to be true, than I would take some initiative and contact the resorts directly and maybe look for another TA.

Hello there! I am also very new to this site but am addicted!!

I found that it took anywhere from a week to a week and a half for TA's to get quotes back.  Is the resort your looking into small? That's crazy that it is almost booked!  We narrowed it down to a few resorts and then went with the best price for our guests.  I don't know what you are looking at booking for your guests but we had our TA request pricing for air and hotel for a week from Calgary/Winnipeg.  We also had a few different TA's requesting quotes for us and then went with the TA that offered the best price.  After deciding on the package I then contacted the resort myself for availability for the actual wedding day.

Believe me I know how your feeling...for me this was the most stressful part!!

Thank-god its not just me!! I just decided to email the resort and see if they have dates available or not.. at least if I find out they dont have dates then I can just move on instead of waiting on my quotes.

I totally agree... getting the resort figured out is that hardest most stressful part. I have little patience for stuff like this. I need to know things now!! :)

I have priced out a variety of resorts (in both Mexico and Jamaica) from two agencies in Ontario and most took somewhere in the 5-7 day range for quotes.  One set of quotes came back quite quickly (ie 1-2 days) for the Barcelo resort, most took about 5 days, but some (including Secrets and Moon Palace) took closer to 10 days.  It might also have to do with the airline your prices are through - I know Westjet was super speedy with quotes for us, whereas Sunwing and Air Transat have been average.  Hope that helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
