Glad they are coming, but I am so over it. They said they would love to go initially, booked, then unbooked, then put a deposit down again, got that back and changed their minds, and now are going. Don't even ask, I don't even know! So aside from that I just have the normal stuff, final fitting Monday morning, tying up all loose ends like music for reception, figuring out packing wedding decor and items, making these stupid aisle runners I decided would be a great idea but they really weren't at all, etc...we leave 2 weeks from today! I want to lose a couple more pounds before we go too and I barely have time to work out anymore, so who knows if that'll happen! I'm just ready to get there at this point I just need a vacation!

My rings have been screwed up and I have to find a new set at the same store equal or greater value of course, but when we bought them they were on sale. So I have that unexpected expense and I pray it will be sized corectly and back in time. My dress was terrible, but I go back on may 6 for another fitting. Hopefully it will be right this time and i won't have to pay extra. Not to mention now my mom tells me that she isn't coming because she doesn't think I want her there. (Totally irrational considering all I have offered her and included her in; and what a great relationship we have. I just can't pay her and her husbands whole way.) I should be really happy, but seriously I'm overdue for a meltdown! So my prayers are with you other ladies going through some my stresses. Surely it will all be worth it! I know I'm ready for the vacation part. That's the reason we did it this way anyway!

Ladies,

Sorry to hear that you are both enduring some stresses. I think i have come to the conclusion that we all have our own problems. You all have given me so much support and good advise.

So let me share something I have learned. Chances are something is going to go not according to plan. There will be bumps in the road and challenges to overcome. But in the end all the matters is when you are staring into your mans eyes as he becomes you husband. Try not to stress over all the details (easier said then done- i know) but I think we will all look back and laugh at much we stressed over things, that ultimately wont matter so much in the end.

Good luck to you both!

Great memory! Yes Mikaella 1508 (which has a tiered ruffle back) I did take KDoyles advise and made an appt for saturday at another seamstess just incase. I have an appointment with the bridal salon tonight again to speak with the manager so we will see how that goes. You are right, it will only take a day to fix once I find a capable seamstress!

Thanks for the kind words and for easing my stress!

On a happier note I will have my toes in the sand in 8 days! I cannot be happier and more excited!

( I will keep you all posted on the dress sitch before I leave)

Hey Kristie,

I'm happy to hear that your 'Plan B' is in place for Saturday. Definitely keep us posted on the progress/status.

Iâ€m always surprised by the things that I remember, but Iâ€m sure it helps that your Mikaella was one of my dress consideration when I first got started.  There are close to two dozen Brides on BDW that I can do this with.

8 days and counting… heck yeah!  The closer I get that happier I am even regarding things that would typically put me in a bummed mood.  I walked into work this morning with the biggest smile on my face greeting everyone with a “Happy Friday!†and my superintendent asks “well arenâ€t you chipper, you know your on-call tomorrow right?†my reply “it doesnâ€t matter, I still leave in 12 days and get married in 15!â€

We were doing the same! At one point I just looked around the room and said to my FI, "How are we getting all of this shit to Mexico??" It was a little overwhelming. We have all of these tumblers for welcome bags, vases for centerpieces, etc. We each get one checked bag for free, and then plan on bringing one extra. Then we'll have a carry-on, and I'll bring my dress on the plane. Not only getting everything into the 3 suitcases, but then keeing them under 50 lbs. is another struggle. Hopefully we'll be able to make it work. Otherwise I'll just ask my mom or siblings to take stuff, but I'd like to avoid that and keep all our stuff together. The good news is (which I keep telling myself) that packing to come home will be super easy!

We get two bags each, plus one carry on and we are already there, with lots of stuff still unpacked on our sofa. Plus my brothers are already taking two bags for us! I think we need to re-pack using larger suitcases. I heard on this forum once that a bride used a plastic rubbermaid tote like you would use for storage. Anyone know if that is allowed?? Also, I read on here once that there was a monetary limit as to how much stuff should be packed per bag. Could that be true? Completely overwhelmed!

Hey Missy,

Just to provide a couple points of clarification...

Yes, you can pack items in rubbermaid bins, but you'll want to ensure there durability and confirm cost as they may not be the same price for standard luggage since the dimensions will vary.  Also, I have heard that TSA is more apt to check these bins since they look a bit suspect.

I know that Mexico's Customs has a $300 per person limit on items brought in that are not for personal use.  Anything above this is susceptible to tax.  I'm not sure if this applies to the Dominican Republic.

Wow a dozen girls! I have the memory of a bat!

You should use this to your advantage more! haha

Glad you are happy! I am surprisingly in a good mood considering the dress sitch. I just have faith it will all work out!

Keep on smiling! And I will let you know about the dress!

Is there anyone that you could give your OOT bags to ahead of time? Or perhaps some friends can take some decorations for you? I live down here in Mexico, but I'm having at least 10 friends bring things for me that I can't find down here - string lighting, taper candles, my real touch bouquet, some of the things for my OOT bags, etc.

Your friends and family are there to help you, all you need to do is ask! I've been feeling really guilty about asking people to bring things, but they keep assuring me it's no problem.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
