Thanks for starting this! I don't have much besides his ring, reception hall booked and the we know we want to go to Grand Pallidium Lady Hamilton the end of May 2013.  It is so crazy to think it is less than a year a way and I have sooooo much to do!

Oh girl don't worry! We were engaged 6 months before pulling the trigger on the DW. We were saying about 2 years until our wedding, and now we're less than a year away! But, you'd be surprised how helpful this site and your WC will be through the process. You can get great planning ideas and also some DIY projects! Good luck with all your planning, we're here to help if you need anything!!

Now that you're booked, maybe get in touch with your resort's wedding coordinator [WC] and ask them for a list of their approved/house vendors- DJ, photographer, florist, etc. Most resorts will have their "house vendors" and if you go outside to other vendors, there may be extra fees so start there and began researching. For me, these are the things I'm taking care of right away and the rest are all fun crafty DIY projects & decorations.

We wanted to have our wedding the week before our date because Canada has a long weekend then. It just made sense, so that people would have to take less vacation days. Except my fiance and brother have exams that week, so we had to push it back. I'm sure it'll be just as great though!

And you are NOT far behind at all. We didn't even start looking into anything wedding related until 4 months after we got engaged. We officially changed our wedding to a DW 6 months after being engaged. You have plenty of time! :)

Most of our guests are staying 4-5 nights. Since it's usually cheaper to fly on a Monday than a Sunday, most of our guests are either coming in Wednesday and leaving Monday (5 nights) or coming in Thursday and leaving Monday (4 nights)...the few that are staying 3 nights are coming in Thursday and leaving Sunday.

We're actually arriving in Cancun the Saturday before the wedding. We're staying at a hotel that's much cheaper than the wedding hotel for the 1st few days (non all inclusive). We're going to get a lot of our favors, things for OOT bags during these few days before our guests arrive. Then we're checking into Excellence Playa Mujeres on Wednesday for our Saturday wedding.

Hope that helps! Congratulations and Happy Planning!

Thanks, Lynn.. Congrats to you too!.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Now Jade, I've been stalking reviews on Tripadvisor for the past 6 months just to reassure myself that we made the right decisions.

Execellenace Playa Mujeres is a great choice but it was a bit too pricey for our guests.

Hope to see more of you and your plans on BDW and this thread!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
