OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies- I know I should stay off of tripadvisor, but the most recent reviews have me terrified about having my wedding at Now Jade. Some of the pictures that have been posted make the resort look flithy! Dishes in the hallway rummaged by raccoons, moldy bedding on chairs by the pool, filty bathrooms. For the price that Apple Vacations is quoting to my guests, I will be mortified if it is truly this way. The pictures are really hard to dispute though. The most recent review said the bride and grooms ceiling and balcony collapsed???? I have read nothing but positive things on this forum, but like I said, hard to deny the pictures.  Any honest feedback would be great!  Thanks, Marta (Panicked Bride)
We just got back on the 17th and we didn't see any of this. I think anywhere you go there may be some issues here and there but I'm sure if there was mold they could switch your room. The two things we saw were the cups being thrown in a big bucket and not truly washed at the pool bars and the yellowish stains in the Jacuzzis which is caused by the water ehich comes out a bit yellow (think its well water)

Wow thanks for all that info!!! i have one question.... how early did you purchase items for the welcome bags? I'm still not sure how many guests i will have so idk how early is TOO early.
I started to purchase when I knew roughly how many were coming and purchased a few extra of everything I bought just incase! About 4-5 months

Woohoo!!! I can't believe I get to see Now Jade tomorrow for the first time after planning for a year. I am so excited and nervous. I will let you all know how it goes over the next few days. Thank you to the many brides (and grooms) who have helped me on here over the last year. Count down to the big day: 4 more sleeps.
Congrats!!! You'll love it and your wedding will be amazing!!!

I just read this as well and am a little concerned! I have been to the NJ and know what it is like, and it was NOTHING like this. I hope the reviews improve!!!

Wow... now that's just awesome... For many of us reading these reviews is definitely too late. Sure sucks to see a bunch of one star reviews all posted on the same day. I'm super nervous, it makes me feel a little sick to read these. I think I need a strong drink.

I just happened to see this comment and went over to read trip advisor. I haven't read it in a while! Those few one star reviews are an absolute joke! It was quite comical to actually read them. I truly believe some people are crazy. One of them were complaining of their Ocean View room. They said they had to look to the left of their balcony to see the ocean! Well folks, that's what ocean VIEW means! It means you will have a VIEW of the ocean, just a view. They did not pay for ocean FRONT, there's a difference. Oh, and they found an egg shell in their eggs! The people making their eggs are humans and that happens, could happen at ANY resort/restaurant. And this:

"WE were left in the lobby for 5 minutes and were follwed by a bus full of people"

What does this mean? They were left for FIVE minutes? Five minutes? Wow, that's not a long time. Oh, and they were followed by a bus load of people?? So what??!!! Some people you just cannot please! I don't understand how that is a complaint!  I could go on and on about that review. It's a freaking joke.

And now, the review about the balconies caving in and numerous complaints of flooding in rooms within the same review, whatever! They are saying that not only ONE but TWO different balconies caved in! "The bride and grooms balcony roof fell into their jacuzzi" "Another couple that came for the wedding had the roof collapse inside their room,"

We had 60 guest at the resort for our wedding back in June and nobody had any of these types of problems.

What i find most comical about this review and the reason I do not believe anything they say is because of these sentences:

"One of the nights there was the typical wedding going on until the bride blacked out cuz the staff sold her ecstasy."

Okay, even IF this DID happen, that's not the resorts fault that the bride was dumb enough to buy ecstasy!

"I don't entirely blame the coordinator as they have two weddings a day and only one coordinator and she doesn't even have an assistant."

I know this is a complete lie, most of us girls here on these boards know there are at least 3 wedding coordinators.

"They are giant rats and ants. Lizards all around the rooms. Giant spiders"

Yeah, okay, there are giant RATS roaming around the place, yeah right. And for the lizards, spiders, bugs etc, it's the tropics, there is this problem everywhere!

Sorry for my rant. We're slow at work this and I had some free time to read these and laugh!

Good luck to all future brides. Don't stress about anything! Your wedding day will be absolutely perfect!

Thanks for all the comments ladies. I would normally take these reviews with a grain of salt, but when I saw the picture of the day bed, I was completely grossed out. My fiance and I travel a lot, and have been to Mexico many times to lower grade hotels, and I have never seen such filth. Even the whole bucket thing for cups is a bit disturbing. It just makes me question the remainder of the resort.

I will do my best to calm down!

As for the pictures of the day bed I agree, that would have freaked me out as well but I can assure you I NEVER saw anything like that while we were there. Same with the mold on the showers. The only thing I did see was the stained hot tub, which we never used and we did witness the way they wash the cups at the pool... however; none of our 60 guest became sick or anything throughout the week we were there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
