Maybe you could send an email reminder that says you've booked and you're just reminding everyone. Or you could put something fun that you're planning to do that they may want to do so they don't realize you're reminding them. Depends on how subtle you want to be

I am glad i found this thread and read some other brides experiences with people not booking right away. I am already expecting our numbers to be quite low since we've chosen something that is quite expensive to do....however I would still appreciate a response from everyone if they cant make it...I know that probably wont happen but a bride can wish right?

I am glad I came across this thread. I will now plan to send out reminder postcards closer to the deadline.

I also want to say that I definitely think it is rude not to respond but if people say no you have to respect that too. I was invited to a destination wedding two years ago by a friend. She isn't a close friend and I responded no to the RSVP. She never asked why but my reason would be perceived as selfish by some. My FI and I only have two weeks of vacation per year. We use both of those weeks to stay at five star adults only all inclusive resorts. She chose a 3 star kid friendly resort. After reading the reviews on trip adviser I realized that I was not willing to use one of my vacation weeks as well as spend about 70% of what I would normally spend on a vacation to go somewhere that I would not enjoy. just trying to add another perspective.

unfortunately, it's just not how things go. we had TONS of non-responders to our wedding invites, and I'm now going through the same thing with our AHR. I sent a polite email last night asking people to get their response in regarding the AHR within 24 hours. so far, it's working, and many have apologized for not responding sooner.

to me, no response is equivalent to not only 'no,' but also, 'I don't care that I was invited enough to say thank you.' the vast majority of non-responders to our wedding weren't invited to our AHR.

no matter the circumstances, I think your true friends will reach out to you in some way to tell you they either can or can't make it. I'd just cut ties with the rest and move forward with your plans.

we sent out our std's and it was quite surprising to us who responded, a lot of people who we thought didn't and people who wouldn't  think would respond did ,  i guess it is the way it goes!

We also sent out our save the dates and people are already responding on our website that we really thought wouldn't come. We still have long time to go and I still doubt a lot of these people! I'll believe it when they actually book. It's easy for people to say "yes, i'm coming!" but when it comes down to actually paying and booking, it's another story.

I get surprised when I see other brides on the forum getting married around the same time as me and they already have a good amount of people booked already. It's still 11 months out and I don't see anyone booking anytime soon. I wish they would so I could have SOME kind of idea how many people we'll have but I guess I understand. I never book vacations this far in advance.

This is a great thread. Since I'venever been married before I can't tell if this is a general issue or a DW issue! lol

I can only give my experience. we are less than 2 weeks from leaving for our trip. We still have 1 guests who has confirmed that they will be there, but has not booked anything. it's kind of frustrating because if this 1 person does not come, we will go down a table and have to redo the seating chart.

We have done plenty of follow up with friends and family to see if they are coming. We mainly used email and facebook. We also sent out mass emails with updates from our Wedding Website. We went from 40 people confirmed to 31 (which may go down to 30). It has been a little disheartening when guests RSVP'd months and months ago, were given pricing, a travel agent etc, and decide they can't make it because they tried to book on their own but prices never went down like they had anticipated.

AS you get more into the planning and your date gets closer and closer, you begin to realize, it doesn't matter so much. There are already so many unknowns about a DW, that you begin to accept them. lol

My way of coping with my issue: I will just prepare a 2nd seating chart for the 30 people if the 31st person ends up not coming. Boom, done, champagne!

Wow. That must be frustrating! 2 weeks from leaving and they still have not booked! That would drive me insane! I think 30-31 people is still a good amount of people! You'll have a fantastic day!

How many people did you send actual STD's and invites to? We sent a little over 100. I'm hoping for less than half that! My future mother-in-law insisted on inviting everyone we would invite to a local wedding. But I am really hoping for around 30-40. Any more than that will be too expensive!
