My mom is getting her dress made- we have a seamstress. It's gonna be pretty simple, straight cut to the knee, but the detail will be in the neck line and a soft flowing sleeve on one side. She got the pattern from my friend and we're just going to have our seamstress copy it. The only question now is color

My MIL is in the same boat. We did find a dress with rusching (spelling?) along the midline and came together with a collection of small roses to one side which camo'd her tummy area. The only thing is the dress came to below her knees which made her look even shorter than her 4'11" frame. So she will have to get a few inches chopped for sure. That dress we saw on sale at an outlet mall for $39. That was in New Jersey (where she lives). It is so much cheaper down in the states!

My mom has no desire to shop for anything wedding or be involved at all... she says she is on the fence about even going, so that part won't help. BUT my FMIL is very into it and has been picking up things here and there as she sees them on sale and such. I think right now she has three dresses in consideration! She is great at finding bargains, and all the dresses, and her taste in them, are awesome. She recommends Winners, Sears (or a Sears Outlet), and online, like Beyond the Rack.

Hope that helps!

At least, I know that is where she has shopped before, so I would THINK that is where she recommends. LOL!

hey ladies!

I am sorry to change the subject, but I need some help. I am trying to compile a welcome book for our guests with info about the different restaurants at Riu Ocho Rios and the dress codes. Can someone please direct me where to find this information? I am completely lost and have searched for days!

Is this the place? If so, check out the "Our Hotel" section.

You could also weed through tripadvisor. They won't lay it out for you, but you will probably have someone reference a lack of adherence to the dress code or something like that. If you can skim through the ridiculousness that always is on there, you might be able to find something useful.

If not, dress code across all inclusive a la cartes is generally the same: short sleeved, collared shirts for men, long pants. Dresses, skirts, or dress pants/shorts for women. Some resorts have a no-flip-flop policy, or men have to have covered shoes.

Hope that helps.

All Riu's are the same.  The buffet you can wear anything you like.  All of the specialty restaurants have a dress code.  Men must wear closed toe shoes and long pants.  Woman - pants, dress, sandals ... anything really goes.  Just no denim type thing.  However, I have been to many Riu resorts and I have seen lots of people break the dress code and I have never seen someone get turned away.  So, they are not too strict ... but best be prepared.  Let me know if you have any other questions!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
