I'm a Mrs.! Changing your name....simplified.

Recommended Posts

The name change thing can be even more tedious when it comes to changing professional licenses along with all the other pertinent info.  Initially I was going to keep my last name as a tribute to my grandmother...(she still had her maiden name)...but then I thought better of it.  My new last name will be Long (no pun intended).  My fiance and I have the same first initial to a unique name like mine....and most importantly...it took me all this time to find my love....I would be crazy not to let the world know I am his!cheesy.gif

Thanks for posting these links!! We just got our license from Maui yesterday, nearly 2 months after we were married, so getting all of this done tomorrow is on my agenda.  Ugh.

Each credit card and bank thing is different, but you usually just need to send in a copy of the marriage certificate and they'll change it.  So, if you scan it once, you can send it to all your companies with no hassle.

The only place I went in person was the Social Security office...I even got my driver's license sent to me after filling out forms electronically.

Good luck!

I like this ;)  My feelings exactly about changing my name ;)  And no judgements on anyone else's personal choice to change or not change.  For professional only, I will keep my maiden name (so people can find me), otherwise I totally new :)

I just got back from my wedding and decided to use this service (imamrs.com).  I paid $49.95 for the platinum package.  It seems that the site is still in the early stages of development and doesn't have everything it says but overall, it did create a nice list of places to change my name which was helpful.  If I were to do this again, I would simply pay for the $29.95 package and go through your wallet for the rest.  The one good thing I would have never thought to change without this site is my Elections Canada card.  But now that I posted this, you will know to do that.  LOL.  Good luck for those of you who choose to go this route.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
