The Official INSANITY Support Thread

Recommended Posts

13, I find the extra two help the rotation, and the Max Interval Sports Training is one of my faves and you cant go wrong with the Insane Abs!

I loved/hated everything about Insanity, Shaun is a GREAT motivator, plus even the people in the video take breaks, makes me feel better knowing they are all fighting through it like me!

I am on day 14 of the Asylum and have trimmed/toned signifigantly! I am getting a LOT of compliments...so for anyone that finishes Insanity, The Asylum will definitely get you where you want/need to be! I love it!

just curious if you can describe the asylum workouts. how long are they? are they like some P90X/Insanity combo? are you glad you did them after Insanity, or would you start with them?

I'd previously though the asylum was more geared to pro athletes, so I'm glad to read your posts and am thinking about adding that to my spring workout regime.

thanks for any advice/thougts!

Wowza ladies... I just read through this entire thread tonight, you girls are amazing. You have motivated me to complete the challenge and earn myself a t-shirt. I have already ordered my dvds and hope that they arrive by the end of the week as we leave for our wedding in 66 days, so definitely tight on the timeline but I figure thats even more motivating! I have been working out for the past 3 years or so and have lost and kept off over 50 lbs from my 5'10" frame. I can not seem to lose these last ten pounds so am hoping this at least helps me tighten up before the wedding and lose some inches. I am also doing the 90 day challenge by vi which is protein shake meal replacements twice a day, two-three snacks a day and a normal well-balanced supper. Today is my last day of week one and tomorrow is weigh in/measurement day, hoping to see results!

Anyways I will keep you all posted on my start date, measurements etc. Good luck to all you girls, you're an inspiration!

Hey mllek1986, congrats on taking the INSANITY challenge!  Sounds like you have already been working so hard, so you will have no problem adjusting to insanity and it should definitely help you tone up for your wedding. In total the program takes 63 days to complete. I'm currently in my recovery week but I'm only doing about half the workouts and then I will be stating month 2 early. You could always do the same thing to try and finish in time, good luck!!!

Ok thanks. Hopefully it shows up by Friday and I can start right away without missing anything. If it doesn't show up til next week then maybe I'll just cut out part of the recovery as you suggest. Looking forward to the challenge and congrats on being halfway done!! Have you seen good results so far? Are you sticking with the diet plan?

Definitely getting good results! I have been staying away from the scale but I have noticed that all my clothes feel looser, and I can see that my arms are toning up! I plan on taking measurements at the end of this week to compare to day 1. I'm not following the diet plan at all as my wedding is still 6 months away, so I plan on only really dieting for about 2 months prior to. With that being said it goes to show what insanity can do even without the diet! But it sounds like you are following a great diet plan so I'm sure for results will be amazing :)

No problem Kelly :),

Speed and Agility 45 minutes, this workout takes a lot of coordination, this DVD is more like an Insanity workout than any of the other DVDs.  Its a great cardio DVD and unlike Insanity, they go STRAIGHT through for 45 minutes, hardcore with only MINOR breaks.  Its a great cardio workout and it takes your heart rate up there...even the warmup is straight to the point and high energy.  In this workout you use the agility ladder and a speed jump rope (included with your order)

Vertical Plyo-40minutes, I have only done this workout once so far, I do it again tomorrow and will give you an update, its another "Insanity" like workout, I just cant remember all that's used and all that entails, I will be sure to update as soon as I finish tomorrow

Strength-50 minutes, this is one of my FAVORITE workouts, its an intense full body toning workout that you feel almost IMMEDIATELY.  I have done it both with weights and a resistance band, the restsance bands work great but I find the weights make it a little more challenging. Usually when I lifted weights at the I went from machine to machine without a good heart rate acceleration.  This workout combines light cardio with the weights so I get the best of both worlds! This is hands down one of my faves, its easier to drop LBS if you combine strength training and cardio, I am glad that weights have been incorporated into the Asylum,

Game Day-60 minutes, one of the most intense cardio workouts that I have done, even more than Insanity.  60 STRAIGHT minutes of Sports specific drills, this workout made me burn 700+ calories, man it was difficult! But I love the fact that I know I am going to have to push harder to complete this one and it will make stronger and incinerate body fat along with it!

Back to Core- 45 Minutes, this might not sound or appear to be a tough workout, but this is HARD, my back burns, body aches while doing it as well as after! I know its making my back stronger and you dont even use weights for this workout, just a lot of pushing through the pain through various instructed poses, and let me tell you....the next day....you FEEL it

Relief-25 Minutes, this is a QUICK to the point light stretching DVD, not yoga by any means, just stretching your muscles to give them and your body a break until the next workout. I appreciate the fact that its only 25 minutes as my attention span doesnt like anything really slow and/or long.

Overtime- 15 minutes I have yet to do this workout, I hear its a supplemental DVD to Game day that you pop in after to see if you have anything left to give....the first time I didnt, and it wasnt part of the schedule, it is the next go around....so we will see how this one goes.

And I think that's all of them.  So yes, it IS like a P90x/Insanity combo, glad i did them after the Insanity, I wouldnt start with them, Insanity DEFINITELY prepares you for all the cardio.

I am by no means an athlete! I just admire/desire their bodies and I know you have to do what they do to get what they've got (workout wise).  Hope this helps.
