"New Resort Opening May 1 2011" NOW LARIMAR ~ PUNTA CANA

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!

This is so sad that we are all considering other places! I know this would be a fantastic place if they could just get their stuff together.

I tried to email emy again and I have been emailing the group email as well. Maybe since it is the actual transition time they are no longer our contacts?  I will keep sending the same email every day until someone responds.Ha ha- Emy actually just responded and said my date is still available. Now I am hesitant to book because of all of the price up and downs.  I guess the deposit is only $100 if it doesnt work out, but $100 is $100!

DeeSanders:That is a bit high! I had a TA quote me that price as well, but when I called her on it she lowered it immediately. So far the best rate I am getting is still directly from the resort.

Dee and JB, can you guys let me know the names of the other resorts you are looking into? I am with you guys on trying to keep the prices low for the guests.  Thanks so much guys. I will be so sad not to have this group!

The wedding coordinator that I'm using Is Claribel Esmeralda Pena.  I have emailed with her back and forth and spoke with her on the phone.  She was great and easy to talk to, and extremly accomadating.  My total for tropical room four nights is $368 pp including tax and transfers) ocean view is $400 and for a fifth night is 500.  I do say some things took a bit longer, but they are working hard and have gotten back to me.  I made changes which slowed the process a bit and had alot of questions.   I feel at ease and knowing there a part of the Amresorts brand...helps!  There offering that you can go to the nearby dreams resorts for dinner included in the package which is another nice NEW perk.  Patience is key!  My TA is great too she has been in touch with the resort back in forth through the whole process!  31 rooms booked!   You do have to put a deposit down on the rooms, but as people book it goes back to you.  That money will cover our room( master ocaen front suite) & then whats left we can put towards the wedding.  We decided on the divine package.... Alot included for a fare price..... Everything will work out ladies, whatever you choose! Good luck to all of you in your planning!

Acutie,

Did you try this e-mail yet [email protected] ? I used it about 1-2 weeks ago but it bounced back, but maybe since their website is up and this is the email they provide for their wedding info it would work now? Oh and I'm pretty sure you can cancel as long as it's about 3 months before the date? so if you want to book, it's just $100 and they should refund if you cancel.

It is really sad that it's possible we're going to pick another resort, I really love the Now Larimar but I hate to ask our guests to pay so much especially since they have been checking out the current rates. The reason I was drawn to this resort before was because it wasn't one of the "big name/ popular" resorts. I am excited of the Now take over but it's really important to us that the rates stay reasonable for our guests ass well. So right now the other resort that I'm looking at is Ocean Blue and Sand, which is also not that popular but I have seen great reviews from previous brides on facebook. They have an Ocean Blue brides group page, if you want to check it out... it also would depend on what you are looking for in a resort. Let me know if you want the website and info, if you want to look into it?

Ladies keep me posted on any development cheesy.gif

I am looking to have my wedding at the Now Larimar in FEB 2012.  I have gotten rates from my TA for $664 for 4 nights. So $166pp a night.  She is showing me a package of $1388 per person for four nights.  I called the hotel directly and they are giving me a rate of $543 a night.  Do you ladies think the rate my TA is quoting me is reasonable??  I am nervous to book!!!

The resorts that my TA gave me to look into are these resorts:

3 night, 4 day
Now Lamier - 461 pp land

Melia Caribe Tropical - 449 pp land

**Paradisus Punta Cana - 512 pp

Majestic Colonial - 368 pp

Majestic Elegance - 395 pp

Makes me a little nervous that you ladies are getting cheaper prices, I don't understand that especially since mine is going to be during hurricane season. They will price match, do you know where your TA is getting her information.

JB, Thanks! I had tons of fun making them with my FMIL and they turned out great! I can't wait to be able to get the DIY projects on here!!

I LOVE the NOW resorts so I guess we will see when they open up and how the reviews go??

I know! I really want to stick with the NOW resort/Amresorts as well. We have stayed at multiple Dreams and were in love with them, just looking for something a bit new.  JB, I have actually used that email in the past but more recently I have been getting pricing from Sorangel. Her email is [email protected].  She has been giving me the pricing of $126 per room per person, but also said I couldn't get every 6th room free. When I emailed to ask why, since this promotion goes through April 2013, she never responded. I have not heard back and have sent her several emails. My TA is working on this as well.  I did hear from Emy and sent over my paperwork to reserve April 17, 2012 at 3:00 pm. I have not heard back to see if she received it.  I hope she tells me soon, don't like my information floating around if she didn't!

Moni, congrats on booking the rooms.  That is awesome!  Sounds like you are having good luck and it makes me feel better. I will hang in there, but really do need some clarification on pricing soon!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
