  1. To all you ladies getting married here Just somthing I think you should and would like to know......BEWARE!!! When you plan your wedding you want to trust who you are dealing with. Recent email that they never responded back to on tripadvisor.... they PM'd me and then nothing! This resort sucks if you ask me and I didn't even have my wedding here(stayed at another nearby resort) which I also wasn't thrilled with.... we stayed at HRH for our honeymoon.... and planed a private photo shoot here for my husband and I. My email address is xxxxxxxxxxx I sent an email and got a response that the $400.00 dollars that you took off our bill was all you are able to do.... When we were there I let it be known that, that's a start but not enough. We had numerous issues as stated, one being with the spa. Another was we had an ant problem our entire stay even with the exterminating. When we first arrived to our room there was a chocolate honeymoon cake infested with ants. The biggest problem however is my wedding gown. The way we were treated with this issue was is appalling. I would be a little more understanding if I sent my gown to be cleaned but i did NOT. I sent it to be steam pressed. I wrote it twice on the laundering slip.....STEAM ONLY. The tag inside the gown has special instructions on dry cleaning and calls for a special cleaning, which is why I wasn't going to clean it until i returned home. I only wanted to take the wrinkles out for some additional pictures we were going to take at your resort. My dress came back to my room the next day soaking wet. The bottom of the gown which was dirty from wearing on my actual wedding day came back spotless.(proving it was cleaned) I wore the gown days before at another resort and had the same done just to remove the wrinkles before the wedding and it came back in perfect shape and that was a much smaller resort. The fact is no one is really taking responsibility for what occurred and your management made it seam as if they were doing us a favor when they took a very small portion off our bill. A whole night was ruined the night my gown did come back. I was so upset I couldn't even enjoy the evening with my husband. The amount of time speaking with the staff and management about the issues was the last thing we wanted to do on our honeymoon. As far as I'm concerned the fact that your able to just brush this off and say case closed is unforgivable and therefore we won't be returning to your resort. I posted this on trip advisor because I feel people should know the truth. I will also be posting on wedding and other travel forums as well because that is how angry I am. STEP UP and take RESPONSIBILITY for what happened.... If you wan't to use outside vendors(laundering service) Don't you think you should take this out with them?? 5. katusha, I use this email to reach claribel [email protected] sometimes it takes a few days but she does ALWAYS get back to me & is always reassuring;) moni
  6. hey ladies, So I havn't ordered the sky lanterns yet...... but check out this site for decorations save-on-crafts.com...... there selection of paper lanterns are nice(big selection) and very reasonable;) chair sashes and freeze dried flower petals.... cute cake toppers too! I'm getting a lot of stuff from them!!! Also check out centurynovelty.com (tropical fish bubble bottles) there really cute! luna bazaar is also another GREAT site!! Sky lanterns..... this is the least expensive site ive come across..... freeskylanterns.com also the skylantern.com hope this helps;)
  7. Hey katusha, yes so far the planning is going smoothly..... still feel like have so much to do though.... It seems its a go with the sky lanterns!!! Claribel said yes I even emailed a pic.... I am also doing a 4PM ceremony, Skygirl..... I felt the opposite I think I may have preferred 5, however I think 4 will be perfect!
  8. Does anyone know if the resort allows sky lanterns?? I really want to have our guests all light one on the beach ~ they look amazing!
  9. Hey ladies just wanted to check in & see how everybody's planning is going?? CRAZY weekend here on LI with hurricane Irene.... gotta get back into action!! November is around the corner. The brand new spa grand opening is planned to open NOV 1st!!! It has a full bridal suite;)
  10. Thanks Sarah for the photos! Can't wait to hear your thoughts, good & bad..... just an honest opinion..... but mostly good, lol. Today we confirmed our reception will be at castaways!!! I liked the idea of the poolside reception and the look but the castaway has better food options... Sarah did you see any other locations for the ceremony that looked more appealing and PRIVATE... than the beach. It looked like there was a lot going on during the wedding ceremonies... volleyball, lots of onlookers in bikinis... I think that may bother me. We will have children so will not be able to use the secrets gazebo.... Which restaurant was your favorite ( looking for a spot to hold a dinner for about 25 of my guests (before most arrive on that friday)?? What did u think of the alcoholic beverages? Ok I'll wrap it up...lol Can't wait to hear back! ~ moni
  11. katusha, my TA spoke with the WC and then she called me.... I know they usually don't start confirming anything until about 6 weeks before the wedding. Castaways is outdoors just has a covering over the top but the sides are open air.... if you go to the website you can see a pic of it on the resort map. Jaz... I know it's such a hard choice...... still waiting to here if castaways is def avail for us, Claribel will probably contact me tomorrow. That's so great that the rate went down.... I'd be excited too!
  12. thanks Jaz;) Spoke to the WC today may be able to have reception at castaways after all..... I like the look of the pool reception, although castaways has better food options... what do u girls think??
  13. JB, Thanks for the info!! Sarah that is awesome!!! Can't wait to here all about it!!! Katusha, that's true if the party is under 25 it's included in the all inclusive plan, which is great! I think as far as the cocktail party it would prob be 12pp.... I believe that was what it said in that original guide & I believe it includes apps! I recently wrote my TA a letter asking about the reviews & TA.... This was the response back from the resort, so it made me feel good that they are trying to improve on the quality & standards! Now Larimar Punta Cana Av. Alemania s/n, El Cortecito, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic Phone: (809) 221 4646, Fax: (809) 552 6851 www.nowresorts.com/larimar July 2011 Dear Christina, Since the new merger on May 01, 2011 we have evaluated different areas to enhance, so that we can comply with the AMResorts brand standards, and better serve our guests at Now Larimar Punta Cana. We hired 2 new chefs of prestige caliber to revamp and increase our buffet and a la carte restaurant’s satisfaction and variety. To oversee all the food and beverage functions in the resort for both the NOW Larimar and Secrets Royal Beach, we hired a Corporate Executive Chef that has a strong European background and the word on the street is he is one of the best chefs in the Dominican Republic. This change has significantly improved the taste, variation, and, presentation of the food served throughout the day whether it is in the buffet or at the a la carte restaurants. To better serve our guests we hired an e-concierge to follow-up, handle and respond to request done through the web. We also added more servers in the pool bar and beach area along with taste and food quality we are also focusing on customer comfort in our common areas. The additional services now offered also include the big screen movies shown every night on the beach for children at 7:30pm and for Adults at 9:45pm. Our kids club has been modified to attend to children from ages 3-12 and is now open daily from 9:00am to 10:00pm (previously from ages 4-12 and open from 10:00 am to 5:00pm). In August, we will be offering the Core Zone for teenagers to enjoy different teen activities. The children/teens will also have access to the ocean trampoline, rock climbing iceberg and water toys which are already available at the hotel. For the adults, a professional fitness instructor to teach daily Yoga, Zumba, and fitness programs has been hired. During the day, customers of all ages can enjoy from our “Happening Now†program that includes daily seminars of workshops of painting, arts and crafts, dancing lessons, Spanish lessons, etc. Finally, our newest additions are our Vegas professional performers that perform twice a week, such as our current Elvis Presley Show. It is important to increase services and quality but to also train our associates. To provide the best service possible we have organized 6 different training programs to properly develop the skill set of all the staff. Now Larimar Punta Cana Av. Alemania s/n, El Cortecito, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic Phone: (809) 221 4646, Fax: (809) 552 6851 www.nowresorts.com/larimar Overall we are starting to see the changes especially in the service area. However, with the transition in the first month, we were still undergoing the process which explains the Trip Advisor comments, but please note that we are now exceeding guest expectations. Since this is a transition period, the resort offers very competitive and attractive prices which gives the customers the opportunity to experience the Now and Secrets Resorts with all the service and quality for a bargain price. Please note that with all the most recent improvements the current comments on Trip Advisor do not in any way reflect the standard of service that we are able to provide today, in which we pride ourselves Please accept my personal assurance your event would be well taken care of during their stay at the NOW Larimar over. By choosing to stay at the NOW Larimar, we hope you will entrust our staff with the opportunity to exceed your expectations as we fulfill our mission to be the Resort of Choice in Punta Cana We will continue to keep you informed on any new changes and, are more than happy to receive any feedback to help better our service and customer satisfaction. Warm Regards, Gabriel Riera Director of Sales
  14. JB what are the two other companies?? I'm trying to do the same.... I plan on having the ceremony on the beach & still like the idea of the poolside reception. The pools look beautiful at night all lit up=).... want to do a cruise too but not 100% on when??? I have a lot of guests coming in the day b4 & I think it may be too much a night before the wedding. I was considering la barcaza for the reception..... but I feel like it will end up being a lot more $$....What do you think? I think it was between 60-80 pp I'm trying to plan dinner at the asian restaurant for thurs for 25 guests... fri a welcome cocktail party preferably at the eclipse lounge for ALL my guests......followed by dinner @ the carnival restaurant(not really my first choice, but since we will be having approx 50....they assured that they would sit us all together.... and then early night! Saturday Wedding day!! Sunday just Chill.... Monday ~ boat cruise
  15. Hey ladies.... It's been forever, but I'm back:) We celebrated last weekend with a couples wedding shower!!! It was Fabulous!!! Dinner, dancing, drinks.... of course! Family & Friends.... Everyone is still talking about it.... We danced all night long!!! So unfortunately I see we lost Dee;( Wish you the Best! JB I agree with you I've been avoiding TA and check the fb page pretty much everyday. I emailed the WC last night & she (christina) also at Secrets already got back to me this morning via email. Maybe since my wedding is less than four months away.... THey really don't start setting things up untill the month before.... even the welcome dinners. It is a lil annoying cause I would like to know what I'm locked into b4 & I want to make a welcome itinerary, which I would have liked to do sooner so we'll see...As far as the new prices on the website that are different than the lists some of us got a few months back, they will still honor those price if they were emailed to you...
  16. I don't think you have to use their photographer, but if you choose a package that includes a photographer that is who they use. It makes it difficult, I still can't figure out how to breakdown everything down a la carte without choosing a package?? I think they do that purposely..... by the time you add up most of the important factors ceremony, florals, hair, food, drinks etc....., I think It works out to be close to the same??? If someone gets more answer on that please let me know( I still want premium liquor & food too! & DJ )..... I just bought a calling card today and I'm going to give claribel a call a soon as I have a free chance.
  17. This had came from claribel: Resort photographer I also wanted to know who does the photography for the resort & if there is anyway to see some of the photos..... You can contact him directly, Ricardo Vásquez Email: [email protected] Página web: flickr.com/ricardovasquez

  19. deesanders, the vender has a fb page madebysam.... check it out, she has amazing jewelry! one piece is nicer than the next & she'll swap out colors of stones etc.... She also hand stamps initials on each piece, so its more personal.
  20. deesanders.....I found them on etsy..... I forget the name of the vender, ill get back o you on that=) Vav.... maybe a wedding monogram, attire, choose wedding party(if your having one) your dress..... I spoke to claribel on the phone once, and also emailed her a list of questions a few times..... take a lil for her to answer.... usually mt TA follows up and then I get a response.
