Weight Loss/Fitness Support for 2012 Brides!

Congrats on the starting Weight Watchers - and a BIGGER congrats on 1 week not smoking!  I quite smoking in March 2009 - oh my gosh, I can't believe it'll be 2 years already!  I smoked a pack a day for over 10 years, so believe me it wasn't easy, but it was (and is) sooooo worth it.  I'm not sure how much cigarettes are in your area, but I had estimated I spent about $7 a day going to get cigarettes(lighters, gum, change that gets lost).  I started transferring that amount of money every morning for not smoking the day before.  That was $200 going into my savings account just from not smoking - not to mention the health benefits.  It's not always easy, but you can totally do it!  Just don't pick it up!

I'm doing Weight Watchers. I really like the program, but of course, my first weigh-in was the first day of my period (sorry T.M.I. lol) but it was so incredibly frustrating to go up .2 lbs the first week when I was so good with staying within my points every single day!! I just had to tell myself to keep the faith, and it will pay off eventually!! I think I'm down about 5 lbs since the new year now, which sounds like a lot, but really I have alot to lose. At least my pants fit a bit better.

I love winter because I'm a naval orange addict and they're in season so its a good time for me to start this process.

I'm re-learning how to eat since this needs to be a life-change for me, not a pre-wedding diet. Now I'll need to start learning how to stick with being more active a few times a week!

I'm also one week without a cigarette so it's life-change time! (LOVE the e-cig for any of you smokers out there!)

Coco - that's an awesome plan!!!  I had never heard about the Power90 - I'll have to look into that!  My FI did P90X before and I couldn't believe how crazy it was.  I was so intimidated, so maybe that would be better!  My biggest problem is that I love to run.  But I also despise the cold.  (So Merrylee I hear ya!!) And I live in Philadelphia.  Hahaha.  I need to start doing something else though for sure.  Love the pole dancing class too!

Ladies,

I love this site....It is so amazing!  I'm not the runner but did it because my best friend (who passed in 09') loved it.  So I tend not to go on the drive (those philly girls know what I'm talking about) anymore as it holds too many memories.  So, with that I started looking into something awesome.. I HATE...HATE cardio but I love jump rope, sprinting, and now the POLE...its so hard and although I'm not striving to be a "dancer" I have a new found respect for those ladies.

SO LET'S ALL FIND SOMETHING....FUN that we LOVE and max it out!!!

perry1212 I got the power90 on ebay for about $50 bucks and then the p90x I got for $99.... the power 90 is 1/2 hour a day versus the hour. So I figured once I discipline myself on the 1st, I should be ready for the 2nd.

Merrylee- I hear you!  I have a much easier time dragging myself to the gym when I am not driving in a foot of snow.  Ugh!

I am also on a mission to get fit for my April 2012 wedding.  I was in really great shape two years ago, but I had some major life changes happen after that (a horrible breakup) and then ended up getting an injury skiing in Colorado last December, which resulted in more angst, depression and overeating.  I want to knock off 25 pounds.

I used to be a machine in the gym and just started going back 2 weeks ago. (I know New Year's resolutions are cheesy, but I needed a starting point.)  I was so out of shape my first day and was completely frustrated, but I have stuck with it and am starting to feel stronger.  FI has been really supportive which is a blessing, although he says I don't need to change a thing:)  Together, we have gotten rid of our junk food and are cooking at home more and eating healthier.

My biggest issue is that I can not get motivated if I am by myself.  My competitive nature needs a class atmosphere to work hard.  Otherwise, I slack off.  The gym I belong to has alot of classes, but not any that I am really into (I recently moved).

I am still determined that I am going to do this.  I am waiting until April to go dress shopping and am standing up in a wedding in May which I purposely ordered a size smaller dress for.  More motivation...

Lovely Ladies!

Thank you for all of your posts.  It is so nice to know you are all out there!  I would also like to get into better shape for my wedding which will be spring 2012.  The trouble is, I am on track now, but who knows where I will be at in 10 months!  I don't want to have to start from scratch every few months!  LOL.  Every morning when my alarm goes off, I am tempted to hit snooze and it seems like it is only a matter of time before I get into that habit...

I have to be honest as well - I haven't been dress shopping, but just hearing about how wedding dress sizing works sounds so depressing!

I have the slightest as this is FI's job to plan... ;-)  Any advice would be great so that I can drop hints.  And yes, we are going immediatley after our wedding so I'm trying to take as little as possible to Mexico as far as decorations etc...

Have you been to Hawaii before?  How long is your honeymoon?

My favorite island is Maui (which is why i am getting married there:)  It is incredibly beautiful and tropical but still has some nightlife.  We are honeymooning on Kauai which is much more remote.  Kauai is the island that is filmed in the opening scenes of Jurassic Park.

If you have not been before, Oahu is the most visited island and the most urban.

What i love about Hawaii is that each island has it's own unique personality.  Feel free to PM me with any questions:)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
