My coordinator was Kalena and once we got there it was Teresa. (I had no Idea why) Teresa was AWESOME and so cute! She must be new because she asked allot of questions during our meeting!

The day of our meeting it had been raining for over 24 hours and the palace was flooded! I was so worried it was going to rain for all my guests vacation but even more so for my wedding. Teresa assured me it never rains on her weddings (I'm still sure this was her first week) never the less this was reassuring. **** DO NOT TRY TO DO OR GET ANYTHING AHEAD OF TIME except your locations!! The wedding coordinator can basically do whatever you want. They have a TON OF PULL!!! More than the front desk I believe!!

The next few days were nice and all my guests were having a blast. Our welcome dinner at Arrifices was AWESOME!! Best food, and a great time!

Wedding day - Salon at golf course was great My mom, MIL, MOH and 2 friends all got hair and makeup and looked perfect! I was the only one with hair pic and it came out perfect and everyone else still looked amazing. They know what they are doing!!

Wedding 6pm Tucan Gazebo 7-10 reception on the Tucan terrace. these locations were by far the best. Our room was right next door. I showed everyone and saw a few weddings.....

5:15 Tropical storm Debbie hit ( here is where my emotions are getting the best of me)

WE asked Teresa during the first two days of rain if we could have the catholic gazebo as a back up. She said sure. Well at about 545 that gazebo started flooding. (I had no idea what was going on until about 6:20) I know she was working hard up to that point.

The wedding pictures break my heart because I am such a summertime, beach loving, outdoor girl. Thanks to the amazing group of fun people we had with us I smiled throughout the whole ceremony which must have been right next to the kitchen in the Nizuc Lobby. The reception looked cute and I would have rather been married in that room.

It was still a very fun time and we had no problems with the moon palace at all!

I had enough rain for everyone so you will all be fine ;)

I just wish there was a beach backdrop for unfortunate brides like me.

Here are some quick pics off FB:

Smoylan, sorry your wedding was in that rain. I got married the day before, so was still there for that torrential downpour, which made the previous Friday's rain look like a mere sprinkle. Our room even started flooding! I am going to post a review soon, too. I wrote about 50% of it already, then my browser crashed and I lost all of it. My short review is that the wedding was great, we and our guests had a great time, and much of the staff was fantastic as well. That said, we had a few hiccups along the way (the flooding being one of them, but a small one), that bothered us (and yes, I know that MP can't control the weather, but they certainly can prevent rooms from flooding!). Some of the service was fantastic, some of the service was pretty darned bad.

Congrats again to you too! Ugh, I hate when browsers crash!! Can't wait to read your review (esp coming from a male point of view!) and glad to hear pretty much everything went well! :)

I was there too.  We married on Wednesday JUST BEFORE the storm.  But our honeymoon rained 4/5 days (we have to do a honeymoon do-over).

Shan, my husband said that you look familiar.  He bumped into another MP bride on the grounds that week! Was it you?

Hi I sympathise completely with you. I got married on Friday 22 June 2012 and spent the morning in tears because of the weather. We had travelled thousands of miles from Scotland for my perfect wedding to get married outdoors with fab photos on the beach. At my pre wedding meeting with Zaray she conviced me to change from the Bugambilias Gazebo to the Tucan Gazebo as the longer aisle would be lovely we agreed to this then about lunchtime on the day of the wedding she phoned to say that due to the heavy rain I would probably be best going to the Bugamibilias Gazebo with the shorter aisle. Then with about an hour to go she said it was flooded so the only option was the chapel. I am not a religious person so didn't want anything symbolic on view so she kindly removed anything like that. Unfortunately te wedding dept doesn't have a supply of any umbrellas, not even one so we had to spend the morning running around trying to locate any an thankfully got hold of two. Zaray then informed me that the horse and carriage we had paid for would not be used due to the bad weather and we did not get any money back for this. We had upgraded the photo package and committed to 3 hours of pics and while there are some really nice indoor ones its not what I had envisaged. Therefore 3 days later, early in the morning we put our outfits back on and got photos taken about 0900hrs. Our guests just took the photos and they are nice but obviously my hair wasn't the same but hey. I got my hair done on the wedding day at the Nizuc sction and I was staying in the Sunrise. My kids were getting their hair done in the Sunrise section at the same time so my friends husband collected them and took them back to his room at the Nizuc section. Time was pressing on by the time we finished and the rain was so heavy so we asked for a golfbuggy to take us by the room where the kids were and then to drop us at our section and explained it was my wedding day however I was told the buggys were only for the convention centre or the spa. We ended up putting towels over our heads and running through the more than ankle deep water. It certainly wasn't the wedding day I spent a year planning but the weather can't be controlled and at the end of the day I got married to the man I love with family and friends with me. It does annoy me a little though that the resort could have been a little more helpful on the day. It has to be said though that for the rest of our two week stay the service was amazing and I would go back.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
