Mexican party ideas!!

Recommended Posts

Anny I love all the ideas everyone has given you already. I was going to say you should get a pinata of a donkey that would probably be fun. And I love Merryme's idea of enlarging the loteria cards and making them into placemats. What about throwing a couple of sombreros on some chairs for extra decoration? What about those mini guitars? Are they cheap? I remember when I went to RM I bought one for FI and it was so cute. Maybe you could do that for a favor? If not I love T's cactus plant idea.

i had a shower that had a latin theme - it wasn't exactly mexican but we did some really cute things...

i used orange, pink, red, green and blue and made it look like a fiesta. i made authentic recipes and had little cards explaining what everything was, strawberry mint white wine sangria (YUM), i bought vintage linens to use on the tables, bunches of these flowers...

what about using on your tables "mexican" style oil cloth- You know the one I'm talking about! The one all of us latinas grandmas had on their kitchen tables.

Bright colors and fruit or flowers all over them. You can but them by the yard cheap.

Oh! You could take a small sombrero hat and flip it upside down. Use that as the snack bowl that people often place in the center of tables with nuts or trail mix inside.

We are throwing a "Pre-Wedding Fiesta" on Labor Day weekend. My Mom is really creative and has come up with lots of fun ideas. Here are some of my favorites:

- For favors we filled little white boxes with authentic Mexican candies, and then decorated the boxes with bright ribbon.

-We made TONS of tissue paper flowers and are planning on using them everywhere.

- Each table gets their own salsa, guacomole, and chips.

-We painted Margarita glasses, filled them with sand, and added a votive inside.

- We bought some large margarita glasses, and are going to put pyramids of key limes in them.

- We are having a "tequila tasting" table with different brands of tequila, shot glasses, salt and limes.

-There will also be margarita machines and coronas, of course.

- We bought a pinata with long streamers and are going to use it as a decoration over the dance floor, and have guests hit it at the end of the night

That's all I can think of for now...

Great ideas!!! Anny you have everything already for your mexican party!!!!

mmmmm.... what about placing the salsa on small molcajetes in the tables, there are some big stars made out of metal material ( laton) at the mercados, there are lighted and you can hang around the tables, those are really cute and look great during the night, and using rebozos tied around the chairshuh.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
