Plantation private reception cost question

Recommended Posts

Hello all :

I  have read in other threads that you can have a private reception at the Plantation restaurant in Ror for the cost of $1000 renting it for 4 hours, but i read also in all the posts that the cost for a private reception is $55p/p , thats when i get confused :

Is it $1000 and that includes your open bar , dj and meal for the 4 hours for all of your guests or you have to pay on top of that the fee of $55 ,, does that make sense ?

Sooo confused,, : (

There are 3 types of dinner receptions:

1.) semi-private which is free and is a sit down dinner.  I believe this dinner is from 6:30 - 8:30 and does not include open bar (wine is served at dinner)

2.) private reception at the Plantation restaurant - $1000 for 4 hours or $500 for 2 hours - sit down dinner and an extra $10 per person if you want an open bar

3.) private poolside or beach reception - $55 per person - buffet style and includes open bar

If you opt to do the semi private dinner you can do an after dinner reception where you can dance and lounge around at either the poolside or on the beach for $15 per person which includes bar, set up of table/chairs and tikki torches/lights.

I am less  than a month away and still haven't decided. I am toying with the idea of the Plantation for 4 hours and setting everything up there so we don't have to move, Right now our list is at almost 50 and STILL increasing so the Plantation may be a better option for us.

Wow,, 50 is a big number for a private reception, so far i only have 23 that are coming for sure,, if i keep my number under 30 i might do the private poolside thing at $55 p/p , if its over that im more inclined to reserve the Plantation. The only issue now is that im like 7 months away and fricking out that when my time comes to reserve nothing will be available,, where are you getting married,, are you not worried what you want might not be available then ???

I was told by the previous WC that you must have at least 40 guests to have the poolside reception but I also read somewhere that it was 20 guests so I'm not sure what's right.  I plan on having the poolside reception as well....I'm expecting between 40-45 guests.  I was also told by the sales dept in Mexico to book your reception as soon as possible to reserve it for your wedding however, now I'm receiving word from other brides that the new WC at ROR is saying that the policy has now changed and you can't book your reception until you get to the resort....doesn't make sense to me.

How are they deciding which bride gets what? The first bride to get married or do they flip a coin? This whole system is weird to me but whatever I guess. I actually would prefer a lunch reception and I hate having to wait to get there to see which one I can get. I don't like the idea of surprises or extra added costs.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
