I know people aren't made of money

Recommended Posts

Amen! Just heard this complaint again this morning from someone so begging to be invited and once I did, she just complained about the pricing. I like what someone said - it's an invitation, not an obligation. Love for everyone to come but its our wedding day and we should do exactly as we want, not what everyone else wants. The people who truly matter will move hell & high water to be there and that is what matters to me.

People will always find something to complain about! If it isn't the cost it's the place you picked, or even the date. I know it sucks but remember that its your day and those who truly want to be there will find a way.

I love that someone else is experiencing complaints from uninvited guests!! I had someone say to me just the other day, "Oh I was looking at prices for holidays in Mexico the other day, really expensive isn't it, not sure if I could afford it - even if it was for your wedding!"

GOOD BECAUSE YOUR NOT INVITED!!!

I feel relieved to know that it's not just me. We are actually considering having a small ceremony at home to offer an alternative and then everyone can quit their complaining because they have another option.

Mrs Price said it best- are people serious about not thinking this is a "real" wedding?? It is SO true! I keep eharing about my cousin's wedding in South Dakota that is 6 months AFTER mine with people saying well... we already planned on going to hers... SHE HASN'T EVEN PICKED A DATE YET!!! People are treating my wedding like it is total shit compared to hers because they don't seem to think this is an actual wedding. It is awful!!

PS- I've posted on this thread so many times, I think you can all see how much this is affecting me by now. I apologize for venting so much, but this has been by far the biggest struggle emotionally for me through planning this.

THANK YOU ALL FOR LISTENING. And THANK YOU Soontobemrsdow for putting this thread up in the first place. <3

I really appreciate this thread also. The last couple days have been hellish for me. My two best friends have been fighting with me about the wedding....and just this morning the one told me that my expectations were too high, that we're not irresponsible 18 y/o's anymore and that they have responsibilities and to expect them to WANT to come is apparently too much. And that expressing that I was disappointed that they probably wouldn't be making it was really unfair of me to say. I'm done, I'm exhausted. I can't be friends with someone like this anymore.

ahh...sorry for venting but I've spent the morning in tears. Thanks for listening!

I am really sorry to hear what you ladies are going through. Its actually unreal. I havent run into these issues and I pray I do not have to. Just try to stay focused on you, your future hubby and what you two want.

We were really lucky when we booked our resort and gave everyone the price. The reaction we got the most was "Oh good! That's not so bad!" Our resort is $1539 plus $200 tax for a 4* all-inclusive for one week. People were saying they were expecting the price to be over $2000.

To me $1539 still seems pricey haha, but I'm cheap. I'm happy our guests are good with the price though.

Hang in there BarbieGirl!! You don't need the negativity right now.. I just went through another similar situation. I just talked to my Mama, who is also usually negative but she (for once!) helped me see the silver lining... like she said, Focus on your dress, your hair, your shoes, your fiance... all the good things. I think sometimes we get wrapped up in this without realizing that this is still going to be beautiful and perfect, just the way we want it to be.

Go have a glass of wine! It helped me out of my tears last night!!!

    • The cooking method can double the calorie content of a meal, so learn about healthy cooking without having to add extra fats, like using a steamer,  a rotisserie , a slow cooker , a pressure cooker, a grill. Once you cook your own meals, you can control the calorie content because your control the cooking method and all the ingredients. A lot of people are overweight because they keep eating food that they did not cook.
    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
