Newbie - Trying to decide

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm so happy I found this forum, because it is so hard to plan a wedding via the computer without seeing these venues and destinations first hand! We just got engaged (our 4th anniversary, last weekend July 4, 2010) and are really wanting a destination wedding...but very intimidated at this point. I love the idea of Hawaii, but am very surprised by the cost. He loves the idea of Jamaica.

I am pretty sure we can get at least 50 friends and family to Hawaii, Mexico, or the Caribbean...but I can't seem to find a lot of info on reception packages.

Does anyone have pricing and pictures for the Royal Plantation in Jamaica, that place seems lovely.

Thanks for any/all of the advice! Laura

Hi Laura- welcome to the forum and congrats on your recent engagement!! I'm not familiar with the Royal Plantation but I'm sure if you use the search function up top you might find more information. Definitely take some time to browse the locations you're interested in to help narrow down your location. Everyone on here is very helpful so ask any and all questions you have. Good luck and enjoy your planning!!

Welcome!

You might want to consider a destination wedding travel agent. There are lots on here, I didn't know about this site and started using destinationweddings.com and have been pleased with them. There is also a company called beach bum vacations that alot of girls use.

As far as reception info and costs, I just started looking at the packages offered by the resorts in the areas we were interested in.

Good luck!

Congratulations! I'm sure you must be super excited about having a destination wedding (I know I am!!). To answer your questions, I would advise you to enter the name of the resort into the search function to see what you come up with. Also, I don't know if you're aware, but this site was started by a travel agent that specializes in DW's. I would suggest that you go to the upper right hand corner of this page and click on the banner for a "Destination Wedding Agent". It's all here on this one site.

    • So thanks to coronavirus, my husband and I have had to make alterations to our wedding. I don’t think I have to put this in, but this isn’t a joke and need we thoughts on this.   We’re planning on having our full, entire wedding inside this bubble (I’m inside it for scale). This is to get complete isolation from the virus and to prevent it from spreading to either of us, or if we have the virus somehow, spreading it to others. Both of will get inside it for the whole day (or at least that’s the plan). We are ok with making small to moderate changes from a typical wedding if it means isolating inside a bubble, but any big changes would mean we probably won’t use the bubble then. Are there any parts in the wedding that would be difficult or downright impossible to do inside this bubble? What are your thoughts on this idea, and what would need to be changed from a traditional wedding?
    • Amazon it is a paradise for shopping. I always buy from this platform, especially when I look for a present. I've already set up Amazon Pro, for advanced buyers, and for free shipping, lol. In fact, I bought a lot of different products here. I like to make beautiful gifts, and packaging means a lot to me. I usually chose all the parts of the gift and then packed them at home by myself. But recently, at the wedding of my friend, I did not have time at all and I decided to look for a service that can help me. As a result, I came across a good website where you can buy different gift baskets. jetgiftbaskets.com I bought her a Wedding Wishes gift basket, and she was very happy. This service has excellent service, as good as amazon has.

    • Sadly no .. its been a year and a half since our wedding and till this day we cannot get a hold of him.  We had a few people reach out to us and the same thing happened to them about a month or 2 after us.
