Who to invite to wedding?

Recommended Posts

My fiance and I are getting married at Ib Bavaro in April 2011. I am trying to decide how to handle the invites. Our travel agent suggested we should send an invitation to the actual wedding to all the people we plan to invite to the reception back home, but to me that seems a little much considering it will only be close friends and family going who will be willing to pay to go with us. Do I send wedding invitations to everyone on our list, or only to the people that are likely to go and then send reception invitations to the rest closer to the date?

Thoughts!?

I would personally send invitation out to everyone and let them make the choice on if they do not want to spend the money to come. I’m not exactly sure what the proper etiquette is just giving my two cents. I know that for my wedding we sent invitation to everyone I know for a fact that some of the people that I invited will only be attending the AHR but I still felt obligated to send them invitation. However, my invitation or DIY and I’m not ordering them so I did have to worry about spending the money on them.

If you search the forum you will find tons of info on this and I have seen brides post multiple ways of how they handled who they sent invites to. I personally sent out invites to everyone even tho I knew that not many people would be ble to attend. I just wanted to make sure everyone knew they were more than welcome to join us if somehow they were able to swing it.

Less is more.  Trim your list down to those who you know might be able to afford going and those that you have to invite , well because, you have to (older aunt, close friend with big family that might not be able to attend, etc).

If you have not seen them or spoken to them in the last six months to a year.  THey dont need an invitation.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
