El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I have to gush to you ladies, so pardon me a moment-as I am so excited!!!! I bought my wedding dress!.  I'm so excited.  It's a light shimmer chiffon and covered in beading and crystals.  It's going to glitter in the sunlight, and I can't wait.  It's light weight, yet fitted in just the right spots, I think it'll be perfect on warm sunny day in May.  I love the way it swishes when I walk.  It even looks good sitting down.   I was able to factime my MIL at the salon, which made it extra real, I cried-then she cried.  My MOH cried three times while I had it on, and she's a complete "non-romatic: I don't believe in marriage" type.  I'm putting in some pictures of me in it at the salon, but they don't come close to doing it justice.  I ordered it yesterday and by sheer luck managed to find someone who was selling their sample, at half price.  It's a Disney gown, so the chances of finding it on sale were slim... making this an extra good find.

I'm hiding the pictures from my friends, so it's nice to have some people to gush to about it.  Of course I'll never tell them it's the Princess Jasmine dress, the "Whole New World" jokes would never end.  I can't wait for it to arrive in the mail... not that I'll ever be able to try it on, on my own... all those laces... impossible to do sans help.  The last bit that I want to add to it is a dyed crinoline.  I think having an awesome purple or teal pop of color underneath would be just be the perfect "me" icing on this cake.

- Thanks for letting me gush!

I just love how excited you look in the photos! You have totally found "your" dress! And it doesn't matter what the dress is- you do look like a princess in it! Love the idea of the color popping out underneath, or even a bold colored shoe (so that you don't have a heavy crinole in the sun). Congrats!

Nice dress, Jen! I agree, you can totally tell this is your dress!!!! :) So exciting.

Allie your comments to my last post made me laugh ;-) There were a few dresses I tried on that also made me laugh lol soooo didn't look right.

So...I went for my first round of dress hunting and fell in love with this one:

(they wouldnt let me take pics of myself in it yet unfortunately)

Large View of the Adorae Bridal Gown

It's just a little heavier than a few of the others, but I think I'll survive... the rouching is so nice and it made me feel confident that even after a week of drinking and gormet all inclusive eating, that I won't have to worry about any bloating or weight gain lol so that is always a good thing.

going to one more store this week- it's like a TJ Maxx of wedding dresses supposidly- we will find out. If I don't find anything there, I will recruit the troops for the final dress trying on session and probably will end up picking this one. :)

I know we were talking about dress budget a little while ago... I"m glad I didn't have too many expectations with regard to my dress budget... all the dresses are quite a bit more expensive than I had initially thought! Oops. But I was really happy that I found a bunch of dresses that I loved- with this one on top! :-) My FI is so used to me being very ummm frugal, so he was surprised when I told him how much it was going to be that I decided not to worry so much about a budget for my dress. between that, my ring, and everything else, I think he's realizing what weddings can do to a girl ;-)

Hey Ladies!  I am getting ready to book my hair/makeup.  I'm debating on whether or not to have it done in the spa or having it done back in my room where it's more relaxing and I can actually have food, etc.  Please let me know what you have done and what works best in this situation.  My main thing is I don't wanna be rushed and I want it as chill as possible and just a fun time.  It's only me and my MOH that will be needing the services.  Thanks for any help and advice!

If you have to have your spa services done with your MOH then I wouldnt book at the spa. I was put in a separate room for the bride during my salon services, which at first made me really upset that I wasnt able to get ready with my girls; however, I ran over to say hello in between my hair and make up and it was a ZOO! There were 3 other weddings that day and people were crawling over each other in the small salon to get their hair done. After a couple of minutes, I went right back to the brides room where it was relaxing. They gave me some snacks, champagne and even camomile tea when I started to stress out! It was a great and relaxing experience in the bride room, so I am glad that they did separate me. The BMs didnt get their makeup done at the salon so they took their stuff to my room to finish getting ready and we got to finish getting ready together.

Hi Ladies, I just secured my wedding date at EDR for May 6, 2013 and I'm a bit overwhelmed to start planning.  How did you guys go about choosing the wedding package?  Is it better to do the Free one and just add on?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

We did the free wedding package because we did not care for any of the additional items in the cheapest package. Since they require you to stay in a Casitas for 7 days to receive the free wedding package, we figured we would rather spend the additional money on our room, rather than wedding things we didnt necessarily care for. We were so glad we spent the money on our room! I had stayed on the regular side of the resort on a prior visit, and while the rooms are nice, the Casitas are so much nicer and are well worth the money, especially for your wedding.

Hi Clariza!

We looked at each of the packages side by side to see if we thought the "extras" in the buy-up packages were worth the price. In our case, they didn't make sense and the add ons weren't things we wanted to begin with. We decided to do the free package, and then add on the essentials that we wanted from there.

My fiance and I sat down one night at our computers, and I had him look at the free package, while I looked at each of the buy-up packages. we'd go through the lists item by item to determine what the "add ons" were for each package vs. what was included with the free package.

hope that helps!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
