Hi guys, have searched all around for posts about whether or not you can sunbathe topless in the riviera maya, and can´t find anything. Apologies if i´m just being really dense, but can someone either point me in the right direction, or if not, do hotels generally allow you to go topless round the pool? I´m not great on flashing my bam-bams for all to see, but i don´t want tan lines with a strapless dress!
cheers

I dont recall many people being topless when i was out there but i think this is much more a European thing to do; but our rep did say that just to lay topless around the pool and not 'strut your stuff around the pool or beach' as the fellow guests wouldnt like it!!! But as for what the official rules are i have no idea.

hey. when I was there last February the general rule of thumb is that topless sunbathing is fine on the beaches, but is banned within the hotel (i.e around the pool). we actually saw one girl being asked to put her top back on, and FMIL has sunbathed topless on the beach with no problems.
hope this helps.
I too am wearing a strapless dress....but with all the people that will be with us I think I will spend my time lying down with my straps untied!!

yeah good point, not sure i want my FI´s family getting an eyeful! think i´ll have to see what´s occuring when we get there, and go with it. you get used to seeing some sights here in spain, 80 year old grandmas with their boobs resting on their bellies!

I agree, general rule of thumb is it's usually ok on the beaches, but not by the pool area's?? Yu could call the hotel and ask them I guess? That way you can be prepared as to what kind of swim wear tops you will need?

I believe in Mexico topless sunbathing is generally not allowed at the resorts unless they specify that it is available. For instance, FI and I stayed at Temptations Resort in Cancun last year and they specifically market that you can sunbath topless there. Not sure about the beach. You could email the resort and ask about whether there are any areas where you can sunbath topless there. Not sure if that helps, I'm not a topless sunbather so I didn't pay too much attention but I know that Temptation made a big deal about advertising that you can sunbath topless there.

Where we stayed (the Barcelo) there were topless women all over the beach and a couple by the pool, but without sounding like a prude... I would limit it to the beach. It just seemed really inappropriate by the pool where there were tons of children playing.
