November 2011 Brides (or Grooms)

Recommended Posts

UMM yes this is the main thing left on our to-do list that we keep avoiding.  Our music is all over the place (between 3 computers, some work, some personal).  So we have to go through and figure out which songs we have on what computer, which songs we have to download, etc.

It's too bad the DJs there don't have a music library like the US / Canadian DJs.. Ah the joys of DWs ;-)

Just curious - what are you guys doing for gifts for the GMs and parents...??

Still no clue on what to do for parents gifts.  His mom's bday is our actual wedding day so we need to do something extra special for her.  And the rest of the fam are so darn hard as well.  Probably the typical picture frame but no clue what else to do.

I know it's been discussed at different points about music playlists for the reception (broken down into dinner and party!!), but wondering if anyone has actually got theirs done? I have a million small things to do which I am tackling one by one, but in the back of my head I know this is the daunting one HUGE thing I still need to get going on. Every time I try to start I end up running in the opposit direction, LOL!!

It seems like a lot of people are thinking Sinatra and that style for dinner, but even though I don't want "party" music I wanted something upbeat so people would be tapping their feet under the table and ready to get groving after dinner. What are you plans?

Thanks,

Joanne

I'm starting to compile my lists. Have the ceremony pretty much sorted. Cocktail hour and dinner music lists are half done - need fiance's input and some of his music. For dinner, I really would prefer to put in mostly spanish guitar music, new flamenco, and things like that -- songs that are upbeat, have few words, but keep people on the track to groove. Not sure if I have enough to fill up my dinner playlist. But I'm also waiting to get fiance's input and some of his music since all this is being done through my music alone for now. I'm sure my parents won't really enjoy a lot of my music so I'll put some slower, "calmer" songs in for their benefit. Heh heh.  But my priority is to keep the upbeat tone starting with cocktail hour and make it feel like a party! rockon.gifAs for the party music after dinner, I'm still waiting on my guests' input before I finish my list as I've created a group on FB where they can contribute song requests. This way I know for sure there'll be at least 3 songs being played that each person would want to dance to!

We don't have any groomsmen so we just decided to get our mothers some nice jewelry from Swarovski. Still thinking about our fathers. confused.gif

We will be giving each set of parents a canvas print of a picture of their choice (we assume they will each choose a family picture of their side) that we will order once we get pics back from the photog.  So we made cards describing the gift that we can give to our parents in Mexico.  We will also make photo books for each set of parents.

Joanne - I just read this post on another site about tipping. Makes me think twice about all the tipping we talked about. I'll have to talk it over with my fiance. But some of these points make sense, like the photographer!

I just want to be sure that I have everything in case that I need in advance, and have it in envelopes all ready to go. There is sssooooo much to think about!

Thanks for sharing this!! The musts on my list are my w/c, bartender and waiters.
For the photographer I already feel like we are paying a fortune for services, accomodation at the hotel plus dinner at our reception for him and his wife ($66 each), so good to know that info. We will take extra cash in case we feel anyone warrants a tip or extra tip.
