November 2011 Brides (or Grooms)

Recommended Posts

Yes, it's super frustrating. Most of Fi's family hasn't, and those that have are not coming. We think a lot of it has to do with the fact that it's his second wedding (rather than money issues) which sucks. Really makes me feel the "the second wife". Oh well! Lots of my family and friends will be there, and that means a lot!

I know just how you feel, this is my second marriage and I only really have my parents and two old family friends going from my side, the other 17 guests are all from my fi's side. Its hard, I was very young when I got married first time and sometimes it feels like just cos I made a mistake then I am have to pay for it now. I know money comes into it and not everyone can afford it but I think if you really wanted to be there you would. I feel paranoid that cos its my second wedding no one is bothering. I am lucky though because a lot of my fi's friends are now my friends and I get on really well with the girlfriends/wives so thats nice, just not the same as having your own friends there.

Hey ho its a risk you take doing a destination wedding!

It's going to be here before we know it!!  Has anyone else heard that it's difficult to get the aspirin and other "medicine" for OOT bags across the border?  A bride from a few years ago told me her items were taken once in customs and it was a nightmare (and a lot of money) to get it back.  Wondering if that's still an issue or how to avoid it.

Well, I'm a bit late to join this but we're getting married November 19th at the Excellence Riviera Cancun!  We have 70 people booked - very surprised and excited so many are able to join us but now we just want the maybes to decide...because over 80 wasn't planned for!

I saw the question on aspirin/etc - I'm not sure about customs but I've decided that we're not doing individual medicines for the OOT bags, we're going to do 5-6 first aid kits (one w/ each of our moms, my sister, and a couple friends so everyone knows someone who has stuff) - we'll take some stuff but plan on just buying the rest at the Walmart has in Playa del Carmen.  We were already planning on picking up sunscreen there so ...

Overall, it sounds like as long as you have receipts (and maybe a wedding invitation handy) you should be fine.

We are getting married at the Barcelo Maya Palace on the 17th but moving to the Excellence Riviera Cancun on the 19th (day of your wedding) for our honeymoon so maybe we will see you! Have you been to that resort before? It looks lovely and I can't wait to go relax there after our wedding!

So simple and comfortable but would like beautiful pics to show everyone.  Would like it outdoors somewhere.

Oh fun JoanneIreland!!  Yes, we went on site visits so saw it - and it is lovely!  It's just big enough that our group shouldn't get in the way of anything for you!  :)  Enjoy our wedding, and if you're there by 4, we'll be the couple on the beach - I'm crossing my fingers there won't be anyone in a speedo or topless in our wedding photos since that's the one negative of ERC - the beach isn't huge.

I can't believe we're all so close!!

It was exactly 2 months for me yesterday.  We finally have all 27 booked with possibly 3 straglers.  I am finishing up buying stuff for the OOT bags and printing out survival kit, first aid kit and chapstick stickers, welcome letters, "the big day" time line and photo sharing cards.  Waiting for my VP order to come with DND tags and bag tags.  Can't believe its so close now.  The weeks just fly by.

Still waiting patiently for the phone to ring and it be the bridal store telling me my dress is in.  rolleyes.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
