April 2011 Brides

I know all about being short as well, 5'1'' here, so I had the same problem with visualizing the dresses being shorter than they were...  Once you find THE ONE, you will certainly know...  it took me to try the dress on a couple of times and to realize the ones I really liked, just weren't the one.  So, get the one you want, when you find it!!

Hi Ladies!

I'm an April 2011 bride too!  I'm getting married at the Gran Bahia Principe in Jamaica on April 5.

Lua - I'm in the same boat as you - had to pay for both or our trips and our photographer's trip in full today, plus we're buying our wedding bands within the next few weeks.  It was a lot to pay at once, but I agree that it'll be nice come February to know that part is taken care of.  We had an early booking bonus through Air Canada Vacations if paid in full by the end of October, so we ended up saving $900 - totally worth paying early!  And it also got a lot of our guests to book early too - so far we are at 37!

OH I know they had this one fabric they called some sort of tafetta not regular taffeta but it was almost like wool or cotton or something and all I could thinking about was sweating my butt off in it!!  And the ladies there were like oh no you can where whatever you want on a beach it doest matter now-a-days!

I got the same sort of spiel from the ladies "people where whatever they want on a beach now" ... i think girls are nuts to wear a heavy gown in the carribean unless they have some magical power that stops them from sweating! lol.. mine looks heavy with all the pick-ups in the skirt however it's super light and fluffy. i'm also keeping the back of the corset open so hopefully that will prevent me from getting too too hot!

It was crazy they were asking like what style are you looking for and Im like well Im getting married on a beach so I dont want anything that will make me hot, and I dont want super poofy and I dont want it to be heavy and they were like oh you can wear whatever on the beach you wont get hot and heavy doesnt matter and my mom was like she has to travel with it on a plane and they were like oh shell be fine, its like there werent even listening to what we wanted I dont care if its fine, its not what I want! I wouldnt recommend David's Bridal, when we first got there it was like nobody wanted to help and then they kept asking questions like are you registered and I was like no what does that mean, nobody answered me so they said go look around at dresses, so we looked pulled some (I mean we did this for a while) and then I was like why arent they getting us a dressing room, well you have to be registered to try on dresses, well helllloooooo why didnt you tell me that to begin with when I asked you! So then we had to set the dresses somewhere I had to fill out paperwork then put in the computer and then I got a dressing room! It was crazy sorry for the rant!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
