Jellyfish Restaurant

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies! I am trying to plan a Wedding and Reception at the Jellyfish and have received the menus from Mayte, that was over a week ago. I asked her a couple questions about the menus and then also asked what we needed to do to hold the date and I have not heard anything from her. I even tried to call her at the restaurant and they gave me her cell and I left her a message and still have not heard anything. It has been over a week and I am getting frustrated. Is anyone else trying to set-up a wedding there and having issues with communication?? I really just want a confirmation that we have the date so we can get the info in the STD's. Thanks!!!

She's been a little slower to reply lately because she just had a baby girl.  She is however still working.... i think it should be okay, just send her a couple emails.  The deposit to hold the date is 10%.

Hey there,

All I can say is that Mayte is really busy these last few weeks. She has at least 2-3 weddings per week and also just had a baby. Don't worry about her not getting back to you so quickly - she will I promise! Did she close a date for you? If she says she closed a date for you in her email then that means your date is secure. The next step would be to tell her what menu option you want and any other services you will require so that she can write up a pre-invoice for you. Once that's done, you'll have to send 10% deposit via money wire transfer (she will provide you with the banking info) and this will just re-confirm your date. This woman is amazing!! You just have to trust that she will get back to you. I've never known someone to be so dedicated to her clients, so with a little patience you'll see that things will get better.

Also, there is tons of info in this thread regarding booking, decoration options, previous brides who got married at the JF, etc.

Good luck and happy planning. You've chosen a great place for your reception. =)

P.S. When is your wedding?

Thanks ladies! I finally got her on the phone and she said my date was fine. We laughed because it is very far in advance. January 7th 2012 is our date :) I sent her 1 more email just to confirm and to make sure I have it in writing. She told me about her new baby and that she has had a wedding almost everyday the last couple weeks. I cannot wait for ours!! We are going to have the ceremony and reception all at the Jellyfish and having our guests stay at the Majestic Elegance :)

Mayte recently had a baby so I know she hasn't been working her regular hours.. she is still checking her email and working, I haven't heard from her in a couple of days and I'm waiting for a reply to an email.. shes good at checking her email and responding but its probably because shes busy with her baby now and I know they always have weddings going on.. I wouldn't worry about it, I've been in communication with her since November and I just paid my deposit this week, she holds your date and they don't rush it..

Hey ladies,

I'm also freaking out a bit. I've talked to Mayte for months now about our June 23, 2011 wedding. Last Friday I wired money over to her. I have not heard from her since about confirming she had gotten it. I am nervous because I never wired money so I'm anxiously waiting to hear from her that she got it. Anyone get any emails from her within the last week?? Just curious if it was everyone or just me she's not responding to. Anyone wire money to her yet that has a wedding coming up? Thanks!

Hey ladies,

This question goes out to the brides who have already been married at the Jellyfish restaurant. If you booked your wedding at the JF restaurant, did you lose any discounts with the resort regarding "complimentary room upgrade", or package deals on spa treatments, bouquets, hair/makeup trials, etc? And where did you get ready before the ceremony? At your resort? Or at the JF restaurant? If you got ready at the resort, did you pay to bring in your photographer to take pics of you getting ready?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
