Jellyfish Restaurant

Question for past brides - do you think Mayte could purchase a box of cigars for me to give as a gift to my FI?  We aren't doing the cigar roller because I'm pretty sure he would be the only one to partake, or maybe just a couple other guests.  I'd love to get him a box of Dominican cigars as a gift he could bring home.  Do you think she would do that?  Anybody have an idea of how much they cost for a box? Leaving in 12 days, wedding in 17!  holy crap!  Trying to nail down the small details..... Thanks!
I'm sure that she could get them for you. She's extremely accomodating like that. All you can do is ask and the worst she will say is no. Just keep in mind that there is most likely a cigar store at whichever resort you are staying at. I know there was one at the Majestics. That way you at least have a back-up plan. My dad bought a box of 10 torpedo cigars from the cigar rollers for $25, and my FIL bought a box of 25 skinnier cigars for $80. Hope this helps...

It does!  Thanks!  I don't see us going off the resort other than to the Jellyfish for shopping, but I'm sure she knows of somewhere to get them cheaper than what it would cost at the resort!  I'll plan to get them there if she can't...

Thank you so much for sharing!  You have so many beautiful ideas!  I love your website and all the DIY you've already done!  I love the idea of the boutinaires and the parasoles.  Would really save money!  Where did you order the parasoles?

Thanks!

All of your inspiration pics are great! I might have to borrow some ideas. I love the chuppah with the draped flowers. :)

Borrow Away!!!

I got the bottles at Michaels in the wedding section.  They come in a set of 18.  They were 24.99 but I bought them with a 40% off coupon so at 40% off they were worth it.

Well Ladies....I just got back from my trip to Punta Cana to check out resorts and Jellyfish...believe me we have all made an excellent decision!! Let me just say that FI was not sold on doing our reception off resort & literally as soon as we pulled up to the restaurant and got our table he was already saying lets do it at Jellyfish. Food - I took Greg here for his birthday dinner & we had..appetizer - tempura shrimp...delicious! Main we shared the seafood grill that had lobster, langoustines, shrimp, fish, conch & also comes with a side antipasto platter & rice... Omg it was all amazing...so much food & everything was delicious. The presentation on the food was really good as well. It is the same quality of food you would expect from a restaurant in Canada or the US & was hands down the best meal we had all week. The resort food didn't even compare. Also, we went to my cousins wedding while we were there at the Gran Bahia Principe and her wedding dinner was a joke...that also made us realize how much better Jellyfish is for a wedding reception. Ambiance - this is what sold us...it is the perfect blend of modern, rustic and tropical if that makes sense lol. You totally get the beach casual vibe and all the wood & stone is amazing...but it still seems modern bc the food, service etc is so great & they were playing awesome music. The lighting in the restaurant is amazing!! The lighting on the bar and all the warm lighting around the restaurant makes the best ambiance...there is no need to worry about it being too bright or having ugly fluorescent lighting...it's perfect! I wish I could post pics but I can't :( All I can say is don't worry...this was the best decision you've made & get excited! Your guests are gonna love it! Service - we had a lot of different servers dropping off food & clearing our table etc...they are so nice and friendly...probably because they are working for their tips compared to the resort where they know half the ppl don't tip so they don't care. We met Mayte and she is so warm And genuine...she gave us both big hugs and just asked us to be patient bc she deals with the weddings that are close first... She says right now she has 200 emails that need to be responded to but when it's closer to your day she is on top of it...and I believe her...there really isn't much communication you need until maybe 2 months before the wedding. She will make everything happen don't worry! I will also mention that we were so hot this trip & at my cousins wedding it was so hot my aunt almost passed out...there was no breeze & everyone was so sweaty it was gross. Having dinner at Jellyfish we were so comfortable....there was the perfect breeze and we weren't sweating at all...it was perfect!!

I'm staying at Dreams Palm Beach.  Haven't been there yet but I've read/been told its about 15 minutes from the Jellyfish.

Transportation is provided by the Jellyfish.  You just have to tell Mayte how many people and she will give you the cost.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
