Hi Angela,

Are you planning on making the OOT bags before you get there? I'm taking all of my stuff with me and then making the OOT bags when I arrive, so I was planning on just asking the front desk for a bunch of pocket maps (because they do give these out to guests) and stick them into my OOT bags.

Also, just an idea that we're doing -- so we're creating a newsletter type of brochure to put into the OOT bags as well (our wedding's not until November, so I don't have one to show you), but in that newsletter, we're going to have a section about "Where's the Bride & Groom" -- basically, we're planning to just pick a pool area/beach area everyday and let our guests know that's where we'll be so they can come hang out with us if they want. If they want to do their own thing that's totally fine too, but figured, I don't want my guests to walk around all day looking for us... we'll do the same thing about a bar at night.

I just got my nifty little package of details from the WC.  None of the flowers really excite me in the sapphire package - can we pick flowers from another package of equal or lesser value?

Also - I'm keen on getting flowers from outside the resort for my 2 BM and extra boot's for the 2 GM - is there a secret to getting them descretely on to the resort?  Or do they just know how to package them properly?  Does anyone recommend them?

I'm also looking for a map of the resort that is clear - I found one on the resort webpage but you can't really see much unless you zoom in and I'd like to be able to put the map in our OOT gift bags.

I think that is all my questions.....for now!!

Thanks all you lovely ladies!

Angela

81 sleeps until we leave and 85 sleeps until I get married!  WOOHOO!

So I have a couple thoughts of things to include:

  • Newsletter
  • Bug Spray
  • Sunblock
  • Cheap Sunglasses (like the kiddy ones from the $1 store)
  • Gum
  • Body Wash (they only have soap in the rooms and a lot of people like body wash)
  • Safety Pins
  • Squirt Gun or Bubble Gun

Stuff like that. I haven't shopped for any of it, so I'm sure it'd get pricey, but I'm just keepin' track of ideas for when I'm ready to go shopping. What are you putting in yours?

I'm doing the same thing - I'll keep everything seperate until we get there and then I'll assemble them before we meet up later that night.

What contents did you put in your bag?

Hi,

I've got in mine so far:

Wet Ones

Hand sanitizer

Chap Stick with SPF

a personalized travel mug

and this hair stuff I got at the beauty supplier for $0.25 - its a moisturizer for dry hair

I'd like to get some tums for in them as well and maybe gum or tic tacs.

I really like the squirt gun idea - that could be a lot of fun!!

I see a lot of people mentioning bug spray... does anyone know how the bug situation will be around November? Mosquitoes flock to me like flies to light. Also, any recommendations on a good, non-icky, non-sticky feeling, nicely scented bug spray?

I don't think I'm doing OOT bags for my guests, but something I thought was a great idea to include in them was an emergency kit... pepto, immodium, hangover meds, hand sanitizer, etc. Because we'll likely have a small number of guests, we're thinking of other options like cigars (our friends and FI love them), necklaces, sarongs, etc. That's if we have a small number. If the actual guest list expands, then we'll adjust it.

When I was in Mexico a few weeks ago, the bugs were ridiculous at night... especially if you're going to the Golf area for dinner or something. And I attact mosquitos like none other, so I def got bit a few times...

I think you're fine around the bars and stuff but if you stray a little, it gets pretty bad.

For those doing OOT bags, I am definitely including gum, mints and a pack of tums. From what I recall those things were super expensive in the resort gift shop. Same with aloe and sunscreen. Too bad they can get to be heavy!

Angela, where did you get your mugs? I'm considering it but am worried about the cost, luggage space and having to wash them all the time.

Hi Angela,

I'll be there on 4/27/11 but I already have a photographer booked.  Cristina is also my WC and she is awesome!  She always gets back to me that same day or the very next.  I think we got lucky with Cristina.

I haven't mentioned an outside photographer to Cristina yet.  I think I'm just going to get them a day pass.  Wish me luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
