Majestic Colonial Info

Hey ladies,

I noticed in the list above that there is the option to have your "Reception at La Barcaza Boat" although information is only supplied upon request. If any of you have any info on what this includes, how much it would cost in 2011 and what exactly IS the Barcaza Boat??? Is it a restaurant? I think I saw a pic of it, but not sure, that would be greatly appreciated!!

Also, I can't seem to make up my mind on whether to have the reception dinner at the Steakhouse, like some of you are doing, or having a Private reception dinner at the Parrot Bar. The prices seem ridiculous to rent the place, pay for the meal per person and pay by the hour for booze and sound system. I'm leaning towards having the dinner at the Steakhouse and then having a private reception at the Parrot Bar. I think keeping them seperate will save on costs, does this make sense to you girls? Need some HELP!!!!

Hi,

We stayed at the MC with our 40 guests in November. We were really not impressed at all with the weddings that we had seen at the MC and had already had dinner at the Steakhouse twice during our stay and had the buffet there every day for either lunch or dinner so we definitely did not want a wedding dinner there. We did see one dinner there and they were in the dark and it did not seem private at all to us.

We ended up having our ceremony and reception at the Jellyfish Restaurant and it was the best decision that we ever made. We went there to meet with Mayte and see the site and ended up staying for hours trying all of the food and just falling in love with everything about it there. The food and staff are completely AMAZING.

Our wedding day was everything that we could have hoped for. The ceremony was stunning and the reception was so much fun!! There was no ridiculous rules, no one was making us end our party at 11pm and we were not in a huge restaurant with a bunch of strangers. Their attention to detail and how much they care about you and all of your guests is top notch. There is no detail that is over-looked. They personaly make sure that every single guest has everything that they need. I cant say enough about our experience there.

The MC was a perfect place for our guests to spend the week and we had a tremendous time there. But the wedding department was mediocre at best and we found that the prices were outrageous for what they were offering.

I posted a bunch of our wedding pics on the jellyfish facebook page. I would also be happy to post them but I am not sure how to do it. The price came about the same as the MC when it was all done and it was definitely money well spent.

Hey Manda,

We decided on the MC because our TA told us that this was the #1 resort for Destination Weddings in PC. Our second option was Dreams Palm Beach, but somehow we kept coming back to MC. We also looked at the reviews on TripAdvisor, and read nothing but awesome reviews for both ME and MC. So we chose MC, but might actually switch to ME since this is the newer resort of the two and our TA is recommending it. :)

Hope this helps ...I know how confusing it can get to chose a resort!! Good luck and I'm sure the choice you make will be an awesome one!

Hey Mel,

Thanks, this does help. Any advice helps really. We've narrowed down to our top 3 and I guess now we will just wait to see the quotes we get from our TA. Good luck with your planning!

Hey ladies,

You all are so helpful! We're considering Majestic Elegance for our April 2012 wedding. Do any of you know:

1) If there are any ceremony locations that can accommodate 120 people? We don't want to do the beach, would rather do a garden or gazebo location.

2) If we rent Tiffany chairs for the morning - can you use them again for the reception? Or do they charge you double?

3) Does ME allow fireworks? (That would be amazing!)

4) What's the weather like at the end of April? Would it be too windy for a beach reception?

5) Canadian brides, what kinds of rates are you getting from TAs? Mine quoted between $1700 - 1900 per person from Toronto, but said they would likely go down.

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
