Looking at hotels

Recommended Posts

Having never been to cabo, we chose it based on great reviews. The hotels were are looking at are the Hilton and the Westin. The Hilton seems to be a popular choice, but there isnt much mentioned on the Westin. Does anyone know anything about it?

Also, we are interested in the Sheraton, yet have called twice and no one has called back. Does anyone have any further contact info?

Thanks!~!

I'm having my wedding at the Westin. But, like you, I have never been to Cabo. I chose the Westin before becoming part of this forum. I encourage you to read the reviews in this forum concerning All-Inclusive (AI) resorts- they might change your mind.

I was choosing between the Westin and La Palmilla. I would have loved to choose La Palmilla, but decided it was better for my guest to go with the Westin.

As far as the Westin goes- I am not all that happy. The hotel coordinator sucks (she's not very prompt at returing your emails). Everything is VERY expensive. But you can get around things if you give them enough trouble.

On the bright side of things, they have done a great job of incorporating everything I want. I'll have a better idea of things as the time gets closer to my wedding.

I have attached some info from the Westin:

I'm having trouble attaching files, so I'll attach some more info later.

Hi Alisa - I think that, of the two, the Hilton has more of a wedding friendly atmosphere and the service is great (I've stayed at both). I am a Starwood fan, but the Sheraton (also a Starwood property) was better than the Westin in terms of being wedding ready.

HOWEVER - responsiveness is very important as you will be planning from a far. Are you going to use a coordinator? If not, make sure you choose a hotel that you feel is very responsive to your needs as you will rely on them very heavily.

We're getting married at Casa del Mar. It was comparable in price to the Sheraton, but it is a smaller property so we are the only wedding that weekend which was important to us. I also like the Marquis (in terms of style). Dreams (an AI) has a really pretty gazebo area, as does the Sheraton.

I've never been to Cabo either. I chose Hilton over the Westin & Sheraton because the coordinator seemed more responsive (this is a relative term in Mexico) and the block room rates were better for my guests. So far I'm happy with my decision. I'll let you know my final opinion soon since I get married there the weekend after next.

After going to Cabo, I would have to say it would be between the Hilton and Sheraton for me.

We wanted to go the all-inclusive route so these weren't really hotels we were considering, but we went by them anyway. The grounds of the Sheraton are awesome, and the Hilton has such a classy, upscale look to it. There's nothing wrong with the Westin- the architechture is amazing, it just didn't impress us as much in person (it might have been because the people weren't as friendly about us just stopping by!).

Does anyone have any other suggestions of hotels we can look at? We are doing our site visit December 1-5, and because we are so far away, we can only go this once before the wedding. Right now we have talked to the Hilton and the Westin. I have called, emailed, and filled out a request for the Sheraton, and have still heard nothing back. We do not want all inclusives and we need to keep the rooms under $250/night. I really want to look at more than 2 hotels!! Any ideashuh.gif

I received this hotel information from Kashmire, for the Sharaton and Melia San Lucas. Were doing our site visit in Cabo on Nov. 14 -16, were also going to visit Villa Del Palmar because were staying there for our wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
