Is something missing?

Recommended Posts

Soooo...I'm less than a month away from departure day! Yay! (and, holy crap!) I'm incredibly excited but I feel like I should be doing more to prepare. My wedding coordinator at the resort (Iberostar Dominicana) isn't doing much to help me plan anything. I expressed my concern to my TA, she talked to the wedding coordinator and the WC told her that we would plan everything when I got there. I HATE not knowing what to expect and having NOTHING planned.

When I first decided that's where I wanted my wedding, she sent me a form to fill out my preferences but nothing has happened since then. I even asked if I needed to put down a deposit to hold the date and she said no.

Is this normal? Is there something I need to be doing? Kind of freaking out!

I just had my wedding 3 weeks ago and did everything once we got down there. It was perfect. I didn't stress about it "turning out exactly" how I wanted, bringing bags of stuff down, deciding on something then changing my mind, etc.

It was seriously perfect...and planning was so stress free! Sit back and get excited-that's my advice!

It's completely normal. They have everything planned. They even have music for you. Some of us brides just want to specialize it for our special day. Other brides could care less. To be honest, I wish I would have cared less because I ended up getting sick at 6:00 and missed the entire dinner and dancing. The day flies by so fast so just go, relax, and don't have any expectations. Just "Fly by the seat of your pants" (or dress?)

Find out what is necessary/important to YOU. You might value music more than the photos/cake/flowers etc. Every bride is different.

Enjoy your day and trust me! It will be fantastic!

Hollym,

I am getting married at the Iberostar Dominicana next August. I assume that Yoselina is your WC. I actually met with her in October to see the different locations for the ceremony and a reception and she was great. She is very efficient and organized. As long as you come with a list of everything you to see happen, she will figure out a way to do it. We have a lot of complicated circumstances and she came up with a solution for everything. Also, you don't need a deposit at the Iberostars. I was worried about that as well, but then she showed me the master calendar with all of the reserved dates. I hope this helps!

That is reassuring! I am finding it frustrating also - I have contacted both of our top two resorts to find out information and have not heard back from either.

Just try not to worry -- everything WILL work out, because it's your big day and that's all that matters! :) You could try having your TA call the resort and let them know you are a little concerned and want to finalize a few things before coming.

Holly - you are not alone...funny we all stress out at different points. It will go well....you, your huney and the family and friends coming with you....they will all help to make sure it goes off without a hitch! It sounds like your WC may not be the best at communicating before hand, but rocks when you get there! Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
