Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the group and am getting married at the GBP on November 26, 2014.

We booked the Pisces Restaurant and were quoted $2500.00 which included the alcohol service only until dinner was finished being served.  After that we were quoted $16 per person/hour for the open bar.  We asked if we could have rum punch and were told that it would cost us extra.  We also asked if they could provide pop and juice for us if we bring our own alcohol and were told told that there is a $15/bottle corkage fee if we bring our own alcohol.

Just wondering if anyone else was quoted a corkage fee?

We are also taking our own decorations down with us and were told that they would set everything up for us but it will cost us a "set up fee".  Has anyone else come across this?

Thanks

Yes I also was quoted the 15 for corkage fee.

I wasn't told about a set up fee but I only have my own table overlays and chair ties and a table gift.

It seems they are realizing how to get around some of fees so they are adding fees for that to.

I had vinnette but apparently shes gone now. She said they would wave day pass for rashel but new lady told be....please be advised there is a 75 charge for rashel and her assistant! No way im paying 150. I would have never booked her in that case! Its only 140 for my hair and makeup!!

Hi, I'm just new to this fourm. Getting married in May 2015.  I currently have the Pisces rented for the reception and just wondering a few things -

-What happens if the weather is bad?

-Do they provide any decorations for the tables?

-After seeing a few blogs and brides had lanterns with light sin them, if we bring the lanterns will the decorators supply the lights??

**Also, has anyone booked a time a year in advance and was put on the cancellation list for another time.  We are currently booked in for 11:00 because the whole week is booked, and they said they would out me on the cancellation list for an afternoon ceremony.  Don't know how this will go though!

Thanks :)

Hi Brides! Does anyone know how a marriage certificate works from Jamaica to Ontario? Do we need to get married here first? =)

Thanks for your help!

Not at all. We got married there nearly 3 years ago, and were both divorced as well. Your marriage is completely legal and your certified certificate will suffice to do everything you want to do for name change, etc.

We had to wait a few weeks for the original, I think about 8 weeks. They gave us a photocopy of the marriage register to bring home with us, which will get your ball rolling but for the heavy duty stuff like credit cards or anything legal, you need to wait for your actual marriage certificate. We actually received 2 but I don't know if they're still doing that or not.

Hi Eryka,

Maybe I'll see you there!  We are getting married on the 21st of October.  I have had pretty good communication with the resort...but there are times it takes several days to get a response. Also, when I do get a response, some of the questions are answered and the others ignored.  I have read over and over again about brides being worried and then everything came together for the wedding.

I was told to bring all the money to the resort...no deposit required.

Try not to stress.  Easier said than done I know!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
