We plan on renting the DJ and bartender after dinner at the gazebo where we will get married at. I think the gazebo has lights in it. I think it is 2 hours long. After that, if people want to still party we will go to the disco. We aren't doing a private dinner because of the price tag and the whole reason we are doing a destination wedding is because it truly is cheaper than having a traditional wedding here in Iowa. We are doing a semi-private dinner in one of the restaurants. Not sure if you can choose which one or not. We are getting married at 3 in the afternoon to allow for enough light for after the ceremony for pictures. We are also having a steel drum band at the ceremony. Debating on whether or not to do a sand ceremony as well, but not sure how the sand won't get mixed up on our way home. If anyone has any suggestions please tell me! We are staying at the GBP for 1 week and taking our honeymoon for another week somewhere in Negril. 2 weeks in Jamaica! I know we will rent the chair covers and sashes to match my bridesmaid dresses and my fiance will wear a khaki colored tux and the groomsmen will probably wear white button down shirts with khakis and sandals. Not sure where to order the flowers from. As I will need them for myself, bridesmaids, groomsmen (Maybe) and our parents. I think I may do OOT bags as well...waiting for my save the dates now to arrive in the mail! You will have to let me know which date you choose! We probably won't book until next January or so. My travel agent said 6 months ahead of time is good since it is off season. It would be neat to have our weddings around the same time!

Hi FutureKeese22,

I've booked for Feb 2013 and now starting to consider a few things for my ceremony too.  We are opting for the dinner for all of our guests, and afterwards we figure if anyone wants to continue the party, we'll take it to the disco. We toyed with the idea of renting the Gazebo afterwards, but decided that we'll do a pre-party the night before and put the extra money we would have been spending on the Gazebo towards something else such as flowers.

I'm looking into silk flowers and candles as my centerpieces (which I've enlisted a very creative friend of mine to make for me and will bring down with me).  I haven't decided on how to decorate the gazebo area as yet, but fresh flowers seems to be what my FI likes.

Enjoy the planning...I plan to enjoy every moment of this!!

Hi Stay cee1!

I guess if we didn't want to do the gazebo for after dinner we could always decide not to since we haven't paid for it yet. I don't know who I am going to order flowers through. Do you? I have heard of Jan's Flowers and Tai Flora for right now. I don't know how we go about picking them out. Does Chandlynn give you a website to pick them out through? I don't know who all to get flowers for. Obviously me, the bridesmaids, maybe some for the groomsmen & parents. I would like them at the gazebo too, but I don't have to have them. Do they have tulle that matches the chair ties to put around the gazebo as well? I'm sure I will just have to email Chandlynn with all these questions haha! I bought my wedding dress yesterday! I keep thinking about if I made the right choice or not, but I have to stop thinking about it as I'm sure every bride goes through this!

I just got my flowers through the resort so I'm not to sure where they actually come from.  I had a bouquet, one for my bridesmaid, and boutineers for the boys, that was it.  I know some people do corsages for family members ect as well.  I didnt do flowers for the gazebo as I thought it looked great without flowers and I'm not really a flower person.  As for the tulle on the gazebo they do have some colors although if you are looking for a very specific color I would probably bring your own.  They had the turqoise color that matched perfectly with my chair ties that I had brought myself.

Congrats on buying your dress!! I would love to see a picture of it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
