woohoo! I got through by phone today to Beverly and finally sorted out the question of dates. we're confirmed (at last) for November 17th at 2:30 pm. It isn't perfect and isn't completely what we wanted, but it's close enough I'm happy with it. I wanted Tuesday or Wednesday, but we got Thursday and we wanted later in the day but all of those time slots are already gone for that entire week. thankfully our photographer is also available so we're set.

thanks to all the ideas and opinions here we've decided on the free package instead of the $1100 one so it allows us money to spend elsewhere on other extras. the assistant emailed me today the menus and pictures of the free bride's bouquet's that you're allowed.they're actually really pretty.  I'm going to make up the other flowers from tai flora.   [email protected]  this is the direct email address to get prices and information on flowers.

because I have my heart set on sunset pictures, we're going to have out wedding at 2:30 (I've been told that will probably be closer to 2:45. it is Jamaica after all) then do most of our pictures. we're then going up to the terrace lobby for hors d'oeuvres and drinks and let people out of the sun for a while, then close to sunset we will go back to the beach and have our sunset pictures and then I've scheduled our dinner for 6:30 pm.

I'm on board with ames9782 and ready to gripe about the price of the gazebo and booze in an all inclusive resort. my FI said exactly the same thing as well as "I guess we won't be spending money on that"  I also don't know what we're going to do about our first dance together. I'm going to work on figuring it out but right now don't know.

someone was asking about spa prices....   [email protected]  here's the email address that you can get prices.

now I have a question. did anyone use a free wedding website and if so which one? did anyone send out save the date cards electronically and if so where did you find them? now that our date is confirmed I want to get it out to everyone. we have people that have been waiting to book vacation depending on our date so now I can let them know.

hope I've given back some information that's useful. please keep your ideas and information coming. sounds crazy to say but 278 days to go!!!

question....we've decided to go with the free package after all (we were gonna go with the sunshine $1100) but now that it's a free package therefore there's no deposit to put down, how do you "secure" your wedding date and time?!  like i have it all booked and ready to go, but i was under the impression that in order to keep it for just me i had to put money down.  now that we're not is it free game for anyone and everyone that may want it??  thought i'd ask here first cause everyone usually seems to know the answers! what a great site!!  and i too got my email back from the assistant planner (i emailed beverly, and the assistant wrote back, but hey, i only had to wait 3 days!!)  so here's what i got out of them, hope some of it may help:

1 - as for table linens do the restaurants have them all ready on them that we would have our reception at?  and do we need linens for say the signing of the register table? (do you have a table for that at the ceremony)?  we are hoping to have our reception at Dolce Vita - what are the tables like in that room? (size shape, etc.?)We do offer white linen for both the ceremony decor and reception decor

2 - are you able to email us examples of the flowers (bouquet and bout) that are included in the package (we are probably going to be going with the sunshine package)? as well as examples of cakes? Please see attached

3 - we are thinking about renting the gazebo for after our reception.  what is the time allowed for this? 8:45pm -10:45pm  how much is it with a DJ? US500 without a DJ? US350.00and is there a speaker system if we don't rent the DJ for us to plug in an ipod? how much is it for the Bartender as well? US15 per person per hour

4 - what times are the dinner seatings for our reception? 6:00pm

5 - do we need to get a long form birth certificate or is our regular one good enough? there has been many questions about this and i just want to get it clarified? You may send the short ones.

6 - we are going to be using an outside photographer, is this allowed first of all? This is permitted  and what is there as for a venders fee or day pass to get him into the resort for the day?You may purchase a pass at a cost of US75.00

7 - is there somewhere at the resort that we can steam our dress/outfits the day of the wedding? This service is available where the vendor comes to your room for this service. Costing starts at US90 upwards

8 - are there any facility restrictions at the ceremony or reception site as to decorating (us doing a little of it on our own)? You may do your own decorating. and what time would we be allowed to go down to the gazebo to start that? This will depend as to whether or not there is another wedding before yours on that day

9 - we have written our own script for the ceremony - is the officiant ok with that? Please forward by email so that he can confirm  and who is the officiant that you guys use? It will be Rev Owen Watson

10 - how long is the ceremony usually from start to end of toast, etc?  We permit  hour and a half and what is the order of the ceremony?  Procession, welcome, declaration of intent, exchange of vows, exchange of rings, pronouncement, champagne toast, cake cutting, dances, photos.

11 - can we save the cutting of the cake until the dinner? Yes you may

12 - can we save the first dance, etc. until the dance if we so chose to rent out the gazebo instead of having it right after the ceremony?Yes you may

13 - is there any way to do a live webcast of the ceremony? This can be arranged. Please contact Oneil Rumble at 1-876-373-6485

14 - what about people with limitations (wheelchairs and walkers etc.)? is there anywhere in the area of the resort that would supply oxygen for my grandfather if he choses to come? he has to be on oygen most of the day?We do not have this facilities at the hotel. You may however contact the hotel nurse so that she can advise you of the nearest hospital at 1-876-973-7000 Extension 55027

Hi acw271011. Congratulations on getting it all figured out! I cant believe that so many times and dates are already gone for November though!

You mentioned that after your wedding ceremony, guests are going to the terrace lobby for hors d'oeuvres and drinks.. is this something that you had to arrange specially? or is this availabe all if the time? I would like to do this for my guests too. Thanks

Bev told me that since I'm going with the free wedding package that I do not put down any type of deposit. That we just pay for the legal fees and any extras that we chose to have when we are actually down there at the hotel during the wedding week.
When I booked my wedding date and time with her back in September, she said it was confirmed as easy as that. No deposit required.

Oh my... I hope not, I will have to ask Bev about that. I have had my date booked and confirmed for about 5 or more months now.. it better not get changed, because someone else puts down a deposit, when I was told I didnt have to put one down!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
