How much was your wedding dress???

Recommended Posts

I am having a cost dilemma......I'm sure you all went through this: While I know this is the most important "dress" I'll ever wear, and I don't want to skimp on finding the perfect dress......I'm only wearing it once; I'm having a hard time deciding if I should spend a huge amount since it's that important; or save a bit since I'm only wearing the dang thing for one day. smile105.gif

Also....I found a Sally Crew dress this weekend that I really really liked. There aren't any photos online since it is a smaller designer...apparently local (seattle). The dress is 2,000.....and I could have the back changed for an additional 800...since I had wanted something backless or low back. How important is the back of the dress for you? Is it worth spending 800 more on? Most pictures I see of brides are mostly from the front? The back is very pretty as is (it's got shoestring straps...just simple down to mid back) but I had always wanted something really sexy and backless. bunny_4.gif I love the front, love the bottom, and love the material. When you guys found your dresses did you love absolutely everything about themhuh.gif

How much did you spend on your dresses? God I write alot...can you tell I'm in marketing......smile43.gif

My dress was $250 (marked $300 + $50 off David's $99 sale)!!! I just can't spend much more than that on something I wear once. I'd rather spend the extra $$ on photography or something like that. (just my humble opinion!!!) That said - that dress you're describing sounds gorgeous! Too bad there aren't any pics!!!

My dress costed $830 and I am paying $225 to have it altered. So, it will be $1055 total when I am done. I personally think that is a lot of money to spend on a dress that I am wearing for 1 day (and TTD the next day), but my max was $1500 and I am below that, so I am happy. I could have found something cheaper I am sure, but I love this dress, so I did not care. I am having a few things changed, but nothing major. I think the back is important, but not the most important thing. Personally, I think if you don't love all of it, than maybe you should keep looking. $800 is a lot to spend to alter just the back of the dress, but that is just my opinion.

I am not sure if that helped, but I hope it did somewhat.

i spent $3000 plus about $275 for alterations. WAY more than i thought i'd ever spend - but i loved it. i should never have tried it on! in the end, i would have been just as happy in a less expensive dress.

how much have you looked around for dresses? if you're wanting to make semi-significant changes, maybe this isn't THE dress? you could also consider having a dress made custom ... i know a few girls on here have done that.

Thanks for the input......I also think its a crapload of money to spend on a dress....but so many people are telling me...."you only get married once...bla bla bla" But I'm from the thinking..."Yes...and I'm only "wearing" it once!"

I also am having issues with the "feeling" I'm supposed to get when I am supposed to just KNOW it's the dress for me. I am so picky about clothes and dresses specifically that I don't know if I"ll ever have that exact feeling. Did you guys absolutely "know" it was your dresshuh.gif

BTW...I have three more appointments in Bellevue (WA) for this Friday...so I'm still actively looking; My dress budget is 1500 or so.....My mom is paying for it, so anything above 1500 I'm paying for. I'm also solely paying for this wedding (15k)....so I need to save money!!!! smile35.gif

Mine was $70! I think one of the great things about a beach wedding is the option to wear a shorter, simpler dress. I've never wanted to wear the fancy gown so its perfect for me. I can even wear it again later (unless I trash it which my mom says I'm forbidden from doing.) I think how much is too much to spend depends on you. If you don't feel comfortable with spending another $800, don't do it. You can find a dress you absolutly love for what you want to pay.

Mine was $600.00, I also loved a $1600.00 dress. I had to ask myself "do I love it $1000.00 worth more?" The answer was no. I wanted to spend the extra money on other things that were more importrant, such as photography, oot bags, food, or even being able to help my sister out so she and her family could all jon us.

Everybody has different priorities, you need to ask yourself if it is worth it to you to have your dream dress regardless of cost.

some girls have that feeling when they try on "THE" dress - i had doubts right up until the wedding day. i loved my dress, but never said "i knew right away that this was the one" - so it probably depends on the person! i am typically pretty indecisive and weigh all of my decisions for a while, so that's just me!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
