Ash...thanks again for the info. I guess I just need to wait until I can talk to Luis again to go over prices for the rooms and wedding. If only I had more patience!!! Seriously though, that's terrific that he threw in extras like the room for your groom and discounted room rates...let's just say that I'm not used to that sort of treatment from other resorts ;-)

NurseNicki: How many guests are you planning to have? Have you figured out the details for your cermony/cocktail/reception sites?
Becks: We are doing our site visit Jan 17-19. We may have 50-60 guests. Just sent out invites and people are starting to book through our travel agent, so we will see how many we end up with. We will work out the details of our ceremony, cocktail, and reception sites when we visit. I will let you know how it goes.

Hi Girls,

My Fiancee and I did our site visit to the Riviera Maya right after Christmas. We visited Hacienda Tres Rios yand fell in love with it! The pictures on the website do not do it any justice. You can not go wrong with this place!

For those who have officially booked: Are you using your travel agent to book the hotel and airfare OR are you booking directly with the hotel? IF your guests book through a travel agent do they still get counted as your wedding group when it comes down to getting things like the room for the groom or discounted rates? Let me know please!

I will post pictures once we are able to upload pictures. Our laptop has been slow lately.

Thanks for the update anacj13...I'd def be interested in seeing pictures and hearing any of your comments!!! What resorts did you visit while you were in the RM?

NurseNicki, how did your site visit go? I emailed Luis in mid-December and heard back from him today. I had almost written HTR off but now I'm remembering how great the place seems. Decisions, decisions!!!

It seems like Luis may not be a person to always be around his computer. Both days we visited he was walking around with people doing site visits etc. I would definitely try calling him. Let me know if you have any questions.

We visited the following resorts:

Playacar Palace

Ceiba del Mar

Excellence in the Riviera Maya

Valentin Imperial

Le Reve

NH

Dreams Riviera Maya

Azul Sensatori

Out of all of those Hacienda Tres Rios and the Valentin were our top two favorites.

Valentin has a chapel on site. For any of you who are interested in a Catholic ceremony this may be an option later down the road. Luis is working on getting approval from a priest to use a chapel on site for Catholic ceremonies.

Uh oh.
I haven't heard a thing back! I've been away for a month and figured I'd get back to at least one email from Luis or HTR....but nothing.. sad.gif

Thanks! It sounds like you guys stayed really busy on your visit. I heard back from Luis and he is going to 'block out' our date until we are able to meet with him this May. There will be a wedding going on while we are there and he said that we could check out the set up which will be really interesting. FI and I are deciding between the Royal in PDC and HTR although I have to say that the more I see of HTR, the more I really love it!!!

Did you talk details and pricing with Luis? I'd be interested to know what options and pricing structure he suggested to you...it would help me to be more prepared for my visit. Feel free to PM me as well.

Maybe you should try giving Luis a call...there's a 1-800 number that you can use. Let me know if you need the number.

On a recent email, Luis told me that they do one wedding per day. Are you flexible on your date at all?

Can you girls tell me what pricing you had for your guests? I know it's a newer hotel so rates may be pricier but I just wanted to make sure the rates we were being quoted by the resort were reasonable. We have heard $185 per person per night but it seems a lot cheaper on expedia. What type of booking rates did you guys get?

Also - what type of wedding packages did you receive?

Any pricing information will be extremely helpful!

Thanks!!

Hi Ana,

I need to check the info that I've received so far from Luis but I don't think that $185pp/pn seems too far off. We are meeting with Luis in person this May to go over wedding plans and room prices so I'll know a lot of details after that. He did offer FI and I a rate of $150pp/pn for our site visit which I thought was awesome.

I don't know if this factors into things or not but Expedia rates don't include taxes or ground transfers.

Also, I've been working with a BDW travel agent and she says that she can also book though the Luis/HTR which might be a good option.

I'll get back to you with more detail after I go through my emails from Luis.

Hope this helps...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
