Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend any boudoir photographers in NYC or Long Island other than Kamila Harris. There has to be more than just her that people from around here have used. Phili is too far for me to go and she is not in NYC that much. I have been researching on the web but am afraid to use someone that I do not know about or have any referrals. A lot of the photographers I find are also very pricey... Kamila is up to $500 for a group and the only one I found that seems reputable on LI is Longislandboudoirphotography, and they are $475 and if you want dvd of prints it is an additional $500!!! huh? I don't want something sketchy where they will sell my pics online after I leave or kidnap me and sell me on the black market(sorry my mom has brainwashed me!)... any suggestions for reputable photographers on Long Island or NYC?

I would just like to say that I seriously laughed out loud at the "sell me on the black market" comment. That cracks me up, but I think the same way! My husband actually gets all nervous every time I do a BD marathon in another city because he's convinced that I'll get hacked up into pieces and shoved in the walls! he's silly!

But in answer to your question, a lot of photographers won't advertise that they do BD photos, especially if they take a lot of family photos. Not every family wants to go onto a photographers website and see too much (if ya know what i mean!). So perhaps just ask a few. Plus, the photographer doesn't have to be from the NYC area. If you get enough people together, most photographers will do a marathon in any city.

Good luck!

Timberly, how much did you pay? The cheapest package with hair and makeup that she quoted us was $725.

Damn! sorry that slipped out, for how many people??

Make up was done by her make up artist (who was great to work with as well) for $100
I had my hair done when I went to her-$0
Session-$375 i think, for some reason I think she quoted me $425 and charged me the balance that would total $375 when I got there. My memory sucks sometimes though, could be wrong.

I should also say that I had a 2.5 hr session that would have called for 3-5 outfit changes, but I was SUPER late and only had about an hr and 10 mins and she was able to shoot over 115 images and I still had 3 outfit changes. you don't need a super long session time to get great quality shots. So that could be a negotiation tool when getting a good rate. If you went the group route you could benefit from the discount if price is really an issue. I looked at it as an investment. It will be just as important in 10 years when you look over it and say damn I was hot..lol. And your hubby will definitely appreciate it. Good luck

She did quote us $425, plus $150 for hair and $100 for makeup. If it was only $375, that's a little better, but that's still kinda expensive.

I think the whole idea of photography is pricey, but these are not the kinda pics u can get a friend to take for you. Looking back I kept saying I am sooo pissed for paying $100 for makeup application!! in the end, you can't do your own makeup for something like this!! I think she did a great job. As for hair, I would have a hard time swallowing paying $150 for a wash and some rollers put in! If you have a favorite hair dresser, go to them the day of and go straight to the shoot. Offering suggestions here, when you do your search and come up with better options, I am interested in seeing what you come up with. I think the average rate is still HIGH! Good luck.

I think you need to understand that photography takes alot of work, equipment, and time. And you get what you pay for, especially with boudoir. I think that's cheap. I'm on the other side of the country in cheap town but I start at $200 for just the session. Everything else is an add on. Marathon packages start at $500. And last time I did one....I broke even, didn't make any profit. Shouldn't have done it but I did. I learned my lesson.

slaps...the whole black market thing is kinda freaking me out and making me laugh...but i think you're going to be fine. i had a hard time finding someone that looked "okay" in the nyc area...most looked like those that would sell your photos. in other words...they were craigslist ads, etc. no thank you. i've seen too many episodes of csi.

i started checking out philly and there are some wonderful photographers there with great websites. just do an online search for boudior philadelphia and follow the links. :)

best of luck and let us know what you find out. a couple of friends and i are looking to do a june/july session.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
