I agree with everyone else - Do what you want. If you have things that you think you're "supposed" to have, but don't like, you're not going to enjoy your own wedding. You've had enough stress from the Bermuda experience - make the rest of your wedding planning and day the best that it can be - YOUR WAY.

I wouldn't be disappointed if I was at your wedding and you didn't do all the "wedding-y" stuff. Your wedding sounds WAY more fun to be at than 99% of the weddings I've been too. Do it your way and if people piss and moan about it -- they can go f**k themselves.

Heheh, sorry that sounds a bit harsh but that's the way I think!

Finally! my kind of bride!!! I think your's will be the funnest party ever!! Traditions are almost a thing of the past! Make your own new traditions and that will have everyone talking.

We need to stop worrying about what other people think of us, and instead focus on ourselves. It seems like weddings are almost a competition these days. I love your idea!

Just an update...The wedding was last night and it was amazing!!! (with the exception of my dress. I had major back fat and am hoping pics come out ok) Everyone kept telling us that the best part of a wedding is the cocktail hour and the mingling, and basically our entire wedding was that! Also that it felt like it was really long (in a good way) because we didn't do any of the "wedding" stuff, so the fun never stopped. The food was ridiculous good and the venue was incredible. If you know anyone who is looking for a venue in NJ, Clark's Landing is incredible!

i totally agree.there are only 4 of us going to mexico so we are having a big ahr when we get back but to our families it is our wedding.friends keep asking questions about first dance song and cake and we are like no guys there will be nothing like that its just a mexican party.we are having a photographer but thats it.

they are like what, but think back to when you have been to weddings.even though you expect all of the traditional stuff it is rather boring.

go for what you want.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
