Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

Recommended Posts

Keys---We didn't have this issue, and neither did any of our guests.  Maybe it is something new?  We were married in November.  I know you can request a new key with a signature, so if all else fails, I guess you could do that.

Tipping---I agree with Lori, it did get rather annoying, so be prepared for this.  This was one of the only things that rubbed me the wrong way about this resort.  In my opinion, the service should be 100% all of the time because it is all inclusive.  But you will find that you will only get awesome service if you tip.  We experimented with this on several occasions, and sadly, money will get you the best service, drinks, food, etc.

Type of Money---Either of those options will work.  However, keep in mind that your bank/credit card company will charge a fee for using the card internationally.  Also, make sure you notify them of your travel so that they don't close down your account for suspicious activity.  And keep in mind that the law limits amount of US cash per transaction to $100.

Hi ladies,

We just got back from our wedding at Dreams 2 days ago. I am still feeling slightly euphoric and don't really believe that it is all over already. It was the best week of my life. We had 50 guests and everything worked out BEAUTIFULLY! I can honestly say that there is nothing to worry about. Everything that we wanted was accommodated for and the service was unbelievable. Our entire group absolutely loved the resort and said that they had never been anywhere quite so beautiful.

I will post a better review a little bit later, but just wanted to assure you that there is nothing to worry about, and that Dreams Riviera Cancun is by far the best place to get married EVER!

I'm not sure what time the beach bar closes.  I want to say 6 or 7 and it might depend on the time of year.  In November, sunset was at 5:00 so it was pretty dead by then, but I think still open until 6-7.  Maybe later other months? That would be a good question for the wedding coordinator.

For the fabric, I got it off of bay.  It was chiffon and only $3/yard.  waheedullah ebad was the name of who I bought from on ebay. I bought WAY too much fabric (orange and teal if you are interested).  You can get the measurements of the chuppah.  I had  20 yards of both orange and teal chiffon. I bet you only need about 15 yards (or less).  I over bought because I didn't want to be short :) It depends on how you want it draped on the chuppah.  Here is a picture of how mine was done.

ASAP, the sooner you get the locations for your ceremony and reception reserved the more chance that you will get what you want.  Also, the flights will be cheaper the further out from date of travel as well.  My guests started purchasing flights in June for my February wedding.  The price is now double what they spent then and has been for months.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
